Not my event but I'm going and know the guy putting the ride together and I'm pretty sure it'll be epic. It's going to happen on Mountain Lake in Giles County VA. Here is the only link I have. It'll be $99 for 2 days of riding and includes meals and Mountain Lake Resort is running a discounted rate on cabins/rooms for people riding the event.

Looks awesome. If the route goes through USFS lands and roads make sure the appropriate permits have been taken out. :freaky

Have requested an info packet, but does anyone know if there are multiple routes, ones that bypass the tough single-track?

I'm not quite experienced enough or sufficiently capable to wrestle my new-to-me 1150 GSA in tough off-road conditions (at least not yet), so want to make sure there are "civilized" (i.e. safer for me) routes that I could handle.

*** got an answer, if anyone else is interested: There are A, B and C routes, so I was advised that one can choose from "mild to wild", so riders of all sizes bikes and capabilities can participate, no problem ***

We are looking at coming down from Ohio too, but we are still unclear on what type of event this is. Our Dual Sports here are essentially "B" Enduro trail rides with some "A" sections thrown in as options. Not suitable for KLRs, BMWs, etc. Is this ride similar to that, or is it more of an ADV ride? We are riding KTM 2 strokes. Any further info appreciated...overall the event looks great. Thanks!

If you read the site it seems they have terrain for everyone from easy to very technical. As long as your bike is street legal, you are good to go. At that's what I have gleaned from the website.

I had asked the same question. .. and *** got an answer, if anyone else is interested: There are A, B and C routes, so I was advised that one can choose from "mild to wild", so riders of all sizes bikes and capabilities can participate, no problem ***. "A" level will be easy enough to do 2 up and on big adventure bikes. "B" level for novice to advanced dual sporters including single track and trails. "C" for wild child, seriously nutso riders with death wish tendencies.

Disclaimer: Note that I may have swapped A and C and perhaps exaggerated slightly. I take complete responsibility for any errors in my own BS, so don't blame the event organizers for my misrepresentations. :-)

That was a great two day ride! The lodge was comfortable and Travis made everybody feel at home.

Can't wait to do it again.

Great 2 days of riding! The pace pretty fast, but I didn't break anything. And I would definitely do it again- except id ride a 250 and not an XR650L. Anyone a have a picture of my buddies Suzuki TU250 that was out there? That thing was sweet!

Travis a big THANK YOU to you, your brother and mother for putting on a great ride. :clap Something for everyone. I think my brother (Charles) will be there next year with a KTM 500. Love your back yard stuff!

A quick sorry to the guy I hit in the rear tire and went into the ditch or more like a gully:huh

    Thanks! Clayton

Sorry I missed this. By the time I caught wind of the event I wasn't able to schedule some time off to attend it. Hopefully it will happen again next year. I'll be keeping my ears open or it!
