It is interesting that on the page of the company that manufactures the device does not include any information about a new GPS 1 Mb RAM, as if it does in Aliexpress ... However, the performance so pathetic facing the Prolech's customer, from my point of view, makes it absolutely inadvisable to buy anything, be it 1 or 300 Gb of RAM

Hi There, i see that you show pics of the GoRider Excalibur as it is sold in the Netherlands. Please allow me to make some comments on this item.

First: The Excalibur is build in the same factory as the MT5001 but is a completely different model. It is custom build for the GoRider Distributor.

The start up screen is changed: [IMG]
The little Dot on the right side in the center has multiple functions:

    1. it shows the battery status and when you touch it the home, back etc buttons will appear.

    2. The navigation software used is CoPilot with lifetime free map updates of 345 country's.

    3. The brightness of the screen is better then the MT5001

I have this GPS received a few days ago and will start using it soon. However the Autum weather in the Netherlands is not nice this time of year to drive my bike around, very wet, cold and windy.

I wll post some more info later.

I'm going to have to disagree with you on that first point. Looks like this is just a re-skined version of the one thats on Alibaba.......

    https://www.alibaba.com/product-det...l?spm=a2700.7724856.2017115.73.3905d3f7gcXwny

The Go Rider website shows no prices, so I hope you did'nt pay too much?

    But lets have your review.

    Correct, it's just the skin.
Can you tell us if yours is already on Android 6?

    Cheers, Marten

Hi, that's Ignacio from Spain. I was in doubt about purchasing the MT5001 and looking for some information in the web; not too much until met this page with your experience and management (with couraged disassembling)
Just bought the MT and waiting for it in a few weeks. I told Cindy Wei from Prolech that heard somewhere (just here) that Android would be upgraded soon. She said it is shipped now with kitkat 4.4.2 and will send the upgrade to Android 6 when available.

The buy was subjected to Cindy answer and compromise:

    "Hi Ignacio,

    Thanks for your kind reply.
Yes, our MT-500 will upgrade to Android 6.0 system soon, maybe not shipping with Android 6.0 this time, but we can send you files to update later, or you can buy some days later, ship out with map."

Hopefully she will send it soon

Hello, would you draw how to plug in the GPS module VKel? I would also like to replace the original GPS module for Vkel. Has the signal improved?

I think it is plug and play. Including the right connectors.
Prolech is working on a better GPS module.
Android 6 tests have been a failure and is abandoned. So I am back on 4.4.2
Since I have 1 GB the GPS is doing ok.

EDIT: The VK2828U8G5LF is no longer available. Replaced by the VK2828U7G5LF??
EDIT: Still for sale on Aliexpress: https://nl.aliexpress.com/item/1-10...3cba-4ed4-a130-64992e089495&priceBeautifyAB=2

As far as I know VK2828U7G5LF is earlier model on old Ublox chip.

I've used Beitian BN-220 in my MT5001. Connection is easy: just cut off connector from your old GPS module (it's good a idea to make a photo before you cut something to restore everything if needed). The red wire is +3.3v, the black is ground and yellow is GPS data output. All you need is connect this red wire to VCC+ and black to GPS's ground. TX is your yellow wire.

My BN-220 is from China and it's fake. It works, but it is worse than original MT5001 module, so I waiting for replacement at the moment.

If anybody interested: I've found why my new GPS module works so bad. Those GPS are very sensitive for static electricity (ESD) and the module can be ruined very easy. Even if you touch those metal parts by your hands.
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Static_electricity#Removal_and_prevention_of_static_electricity

So be careful when you will change it.
I've found this information on quadrocopter forum.

it can be a poor connection on it's cradle. It's not very good design. I can see some wear on those contacts just after 1 season and 10k km.
You can try to charge it using mini USB cable.
