Everyone was keen to ride the Murray Sunset National Park ........ the first time for half of our group :clap

However the weather golds were against us, with starting out temperatures forecast for 40C + in the area. Fortunately they were predicted to drop to a comfortable high 20C's on the return day so it was decided to challenge the gods and head east to the River Murray as fast as we could (legally that is :getiton ) saving the Murray Sunset National Pk for our return journey.

Our destination .......... the sand bar just south of town for a well deserved cool off & camp for the night :knary.

The meeting point ....... Palmer General Store on the eastern slopes of the Adelaide Hills, before heading to Swan Reach to cross the Murray River and on to Loxton to rehydrate bike & rider.

It was obvious from how people walked at our regroup, that we had tested the gravity holding abilities of bikes & riders on the exciting Old Loxton Rd with its high speed, seemingly never ending limestone whoops :ricky

Even first timer bikes needed a rest though :rofl

............................................ and the only thing that had fallen off so far was the rider :D

After a couple of hours of re-hydration at Loxton, we continued east along some most enjoyable tracks and prayed for the temperature to ease and the dust to settle quickly for the guys at the rear, although corners were well defined.

All except one that is ! .......... :eek1 :eek1 :eek1 .......... and the inevitable :p3rry

You're s'pose to turn left there, matey :lol3

It wasn't long before others arrived along similar lines.

Appearing to hide his embarrassment as he inspected the damage ........ luckily only to the bike. :clap

But despite keeping his emotions together, the stress was showing :lol3

Oh ! No ! ...................................... where am I gunna keep my Caffe Latte now :cry

By now after 4 hours of riding in the heat, KymW was feeling a tad faint & looking a bit worse for wear, so we stopped for a break while he held onto the fence to stop the world spinning around him.

After regaining some strength, he realized that he had forgotten to remove his winter lining from his jacket & pants ......... in 40C + heat :huh

Onward to the Murray ...........

Stocking supplies on the way for the night.

Before setting up camp for a night of fun, frivolities and bull shit stories :freaky at this most beautiful location. :clap

First order of the day was the obvious :wings .........

Despite showing perfect balance at this stage, time would tell on entering the sands of Murray Sunset. :lurk

It wasn't long before the strong winds of a cool change arrived, but luckily settled to a calm night.

Morning however was a different affair, realizing I wasn't as young as I used to be :gerg

Others on the other hand ......... " Oh ! No ! ...... what have I done, I'm pregnant" was his first thought :poser

before coming to his senses and the inevitable morning after feeling :(:

He proceeded to prepare breakfast ............. :puke2

Regrouping after breakfast.

After breakfast we prepared ourselves for the challenges of the Murray Sunset, however along the way there was this little matter of an innocent looking fork in the road :deal

Luck was against me that day & you guessed it, :p3rry the rest is history. :lol3

Finally entering the Murray Sunset National Park we stopped at the iconic landmark.

and onto Rocket Lake, a dry ancient salt lake.

It was here that KymW and gravity had their numerous disputes, luckily without major injury.

Looks like every one had a great ride MB, some more than others some less than others. That sand can be great at times and a nightmare for those that dont know how to ride it. Hot conditions dont make it any easier.

I want to ride the Australian outback. My passport expires in a year so I guess I need to get going. Sidney to Perth to Darwin, sounds about right.

I really need to gird my loins.

Even worse it was a 125 Honda which I have inherited from him figuring if it can survive Prasad it is truly indestructible:rofl.
Hey Kipo I think he finally has enough experience to graduate to the ultimate adventure bike and follow you on one of your postie adventures. :evil
