So I went to see my dealer about a completely unrelated matter. He had this shit eating grin on his face the whole time...finally I asked what was up...he said come have a look and we went to the workshop next door. Two brand spanking new 1190R's were built up and ready to go. He said they just arrived and his mech had just finished building them as I walked in. I got to choose mine...the first 2014 1190R on the road in Singapore! How cool is that! I pick it up on Monday...which is gonna make it a loooooong weekend....and then a loooong week before I can really ride it but I am so stoked! :clap

On a different note, he also had the Beast in...the new 1290 super duke. It was just being finished and I got to help pull the bubble wrap off it (I was like a kid at christmas!). I had a sit on it and it is ridiculously light feeling....it seriously feels only slightly heavier than the duke 390...amazing. I cant imagine how awesome it will be to ride...need to win the lottery .

A few minor fixes I heard...hopefully including sorting the possible airbox sealing issue. Comes with the foam and alu heat shield under the seat...still pretty warm though. The biggest difference is the MSC feature, which can be retro-fitted to the 2013 models.

There was a sign here that said 'watch out for crocodiles'. I thought that was pretty cool. No crocs to be seen though.

    Hi

these are my first hard panniers...normally I use wolfman soft bags. I got these cause my dealer threw them in at a deal I could not refuse. not sure the diameter of the rack...will try remerber to check. Yes I have the 31L and 45L. It is HUGELY wide! I went to the shops last night and bought a 30 pack of beer and it fit easily in the 45L with room to spare for ice..so pretty handy really ;)

While I was installing the locks on the panniers I managed to break one of them (the last one going in!) so be careful putting them together...the little bolt on the underside that holds the barrel in place sheared the barrel thread as I was tightening it...and I was being gentle...they are made of butter.

Otherwise so far so good...not sure if I will use them for long trips or just for hauling groceries yet because of the width, but I do like the security of being able to lock them.

Thanks man...am stoked with it! Just off to the left of where that photo was taken is the begining of the Straits of Malacca...which I was recently told by a marine insurance mate of mine are once again the most pirated waters in the world? Arrrggghh indeed! :1drink

I am planning too, but I have only done 150km so far (Singapore is tiny!)...and it has been pretty damp and on road only so far. No dust to speak of, and only a few shallow puddles.

Next couple weeks I will get up into Malaysia and get it on some sandy trails...nothing technical, but should have a lot more dust or deeper water depending on the weather (most likely puddles this time of year).

Will have a look after I rack up a few more km's and let you all know what I find (fingers crossed it has been sorted!!)

I'd be checking what KTM has changed BEFORE the bike is subjected to dust and water...

If it still only has a paper filter, I'd be buying a UniFilter first.
