I started riding motorcycles back when I was in my early teens. My fascination with them actually started when I sat on a Honda Dream owned by a neighbor when I was about 8. At some point during this time, I decided that someday I would like to take on the challenge of riding a dual sport motorcycle to Alaska and back. Here it is, some forty years later, and I finally got a chance to check this one off "The Bucket List." My traveling companion for part of this escapade was Bruce from Pennsylvania. We met at an International BMW Rally in Gillette, Wyoming in 2008 and have joined forces a couple of times since. He shipped his bike into Portland, Oregon and then met me in Salem for the 41st International BMW Rally. We headed north from there. Two weeks into the trip, Bruce left me in Beaver Creek, YT to travel to Haines, AK to catch a ferry back to Seattle where he caught a flight home. I continued on, solo, but eventually partnered with two other adventure riders that were traveling in the same direction. It was amazing how well we paired up and we spent four days together. So, Im going to try a different style in writing this photo journal than I have used in the past. I will organize the photos into chapters based upon a theme, versus a chronological order, and attempt to tell the story of my experiences that way.
