Well I bit the bullet and bought a 2012 Ural Yamal and picked it up yesterday. This is all new to me since this is my first hack but I have always wanted to try one so here I am.

Very Cool, enjoy it! Really like the paddle inscription.
I did similar with the learning curve. Got my rig in January, used the Yellow Book and practiced the exercises, then found a S/TEP class and that really helped my understanding of sidecar operation. SWMBO and I did a 3000 mile trip to the BMW Rally this summer and had a great time. Note: Arkansas roads will put you to the test!

That is a fine looking rig and you guys looking cool in it for sure. I really like the color you selected, I think the orange is timeless and might not hurt with safety as well.

Well done, keep the pictures coming! :deal

Vince, I took a class at Saferide in Eustis, FL. Check this Google search for FL training.
The class I took had 7 trikes and my sidecar, but the exercises and techniques were the same or similar, and the instructors took the time to let me know what was different for the rig as opposed to the trikes.

    Bob,
Was the class more than just one for a motorcycle endorsement? I'm asking because I have been riding motorcycles for over 50 years but definitely need hack specific training.

I see some trike classes advertised as a way to get the motorcycle endorsement in Florida. I guess some people can't pass the required class in Florida on two wheels.
    Thanks

Yes, the basics for handling, turning, weight placement, flying the car, etc. are what is taught. The course exercises are laid out like the training manual and they demonstrate the proper technique and then critique you individually on each exercise. The "final" consisted of a timed run that incorporated all of the exercises. The last exercise before the "final" was flying the car, and when I got to the first tight 180, the car came up and I started laughing. I was in control, but it cut my time a bit and I lost a few points on the overall grade! Like you I've been riding for many years and found it to be very helpful.
I guess many folks are attracted to riding a trike or CanAM thinking it is safer/easier. Apparently you can get a 3 wheel/trike only license endorsement if you do not already have a 2 wheel license. There is no add on endorsement required if you already have the MC endorsement.
