    Media blasting :D

Crap! I did know about this and totally forgot. We'll see how well rustoleum holds up before I have to repaint it :D

Also, the spring is the same size the whole length and does not fit in the cup from what I recall (I'll check when I get home) which is what confused me. If I do it open end away from the spring, it looks like it will cut into the seal there. I should have paid closer attention when pulling it apart. It was the only thing I did not take a picture of when dismantling *sigh
This is why you should take pictures of EVERYTHING as you take it off the bike!

*Edit: The pin holding that arm on is peened on one end and is just a snug fit on the other. I tapped it out pretty easily with a blunt punch and hammer.

I think it cleaned up all right. I basically de-greased the MC then hand sanded the corners and used a dremel for the bulk of the corrosion removal. Taped it off and painted it. The plastic reservoir sat in bleach for a couple days...cleaned it up but not like new, owell.

I took a look at the MC bits and pieces and here's the answer:

That sheet metal cup shaped piece fits with the bowl-side to the rubber.

There's a piece missing from your photo that then fits against the cup. This piece is like a stepped solid steel washer; the center hole fits the end of the piston assembly, and the raised part centers and locates the spring.

I believe caliper paint is only Heat resistant, Not impervious to brake fluid.

Yep. The caliper paint I've used isn't even particularly resistant to basic solvents, turps, metho etc. Never mind brake fluid.

Josh used to work at the Center for Transportation and the Environment with my wife. I got to know him there ... and mostly at Christmas parties and other gatherings. Good guy. Last time I saw him, we bumped into each other at REI ... about 6 months ago. Right there at 85 and Clairemont. He had his kid in tow ... pretty cute.

You know, now that I think about it ... I'm pretty sure I've met the guy on the far left and the guy standing next to you. But I'm clueless as to where I know them ... and their names. But I do think it had nothing to do with motorcycles.

I've been in Atlanta far too long :lol3

It's not the number of people. It's a spin on Cinco De Mayo, which was yesterday.
