Yeah, I was thinking that--but I thought they were always corralled....but just had a huge run of the place.

    Got to be a horse .. No halter left on .. Wasn't kept 24/7 in a 12x 12 stall...
Wasn't bred every year ..Had time off from the breeding shed..
Got to hang out with her buddies..
But still got shots /dewormed feet trimmed and teeth floated..
Not ridden , but that one time..

Oops I forgot she even got the experience of pasture breeding..
Something most mares don't get ...

I have a good story ... This could get long...

Jr (main farm stud) had gotten out of his area one evening ..
And got in to the field with 18 mares w/ foals, weanlings ,Yearlings.. And 2 yrs. olds.
And bred a mare " Slewper " She was the only one in heat (thank goodness) That gave us an idea ..

We had always hand bred the horses.. HB handled the stud and I handled the mares..
And we tried NOT to get run over or fall down.. ( And let me tell you breeding horses is NOT easy or fun .. Until they breed ..
Think about it for a minute : you have a 1070 lbs stallion that is now not thinking with his walnut size brain . He is now thinking with his ball bat ! LOL And he just wants to rape the mare, the mare wants to talk a little first ... A mammal is a mammal... :augie

Being we had a closed and very close herd , I could read the mares for heat cycles, and when they were getting ready to ovulate ... We didn't have a teaser stallion ..So I would have to bring the mares around the stallion . If I though they were getting close .
And watch.. Some mares I didn't have to bring by the studs they were the whores and would show ya out in the field they were easy mares to breed . But some had very subtle signs , that showed they were ready .. This was mostly with the TB's mares ...

Well lets get back to Marriah ...

Marriah was in the field with the mares.. When we started pasture breeding , and well she wasn't in heat yet .. She really liked Jr...
So she would call Jr over and he would get all excited , Prancing over talking sass ,
then she would wheel around and kick him .This would go on for a good while .

Jr would then go see a few other mares.. Marriah would get jealous, and call him back over .
And once again she would wheel and kick... She taught him manners ...

Of course he was a little hard headed at times , being an ex race horse .
Then one day she almost broke his jaw.. Yes for real ..
Oh it was awful he had a big hole in his cheek.. Every time he would eat of drink water . it all would squirt out the hole while it healed.. And he did fully heal with us doing our best in treating it ...
The vet said that he had seen 5 broken jaws of stallions that year...
He was very surprised Jr didn't break his.. So were we....

The following year breeding season started for both Jr and KC , we would hand breed Jr ,to take the edge off , then turn him out with "his " mares for 2 weeks..

KC could never get the hang of pasture breeding ... He also was not as well endowed as Jr
    And the mares knew this...

Yuppers he sure learned manners thanks to that little mare ..
He would then learned wait for the mares come to him. He would then romance them .
    Yuppers Marriah taught him ..

A photo of Jr .when he was 26 yo. the same year he passed .
My baby boy .. Miss you buddy ..Jr was also my riding horse ...

Wow, nice. Cool lesson in breeding. I think if I was Jr i woulda left Mariah high and dry after the first kick. Easy mares to breed... gain without pain! ;)

I was thinking of Air stone from Lowes.. But not sure...

And it's a non-ducked hood ...Just like the old white one was ...

That stove was made in 2007 ... They still make them but now they are glass
topped . With out the griddle in the middle ...

We still have the rest of the kitchen to do..
I did paint ALL the cabinets last year 2016 ...

Ok this run of crap for luck must stop and stop NOW :becca

Did dishes the other night and went to bed ...
Got up in the morning and stepped on the cow rug and dang it was damp !

So the next day I took a look under the sink all looked ok..
I hit the rinse cycle on the dish washer and waited ...

Then when it started to drain shazam water started pouring out of the cabinet ..
Grabbed my headlamp and took a look... And from the drain hose line of the dishwasher ,
there was a little stream of water shooting up ..
I hit cancel drain , that finished the draining sequence...

*sigh* SO now it's time to throw the breaker ,
pull the dishwasher out and get and install a new drain line .

Not cool. But what is that rule of threes...

At least your clothes washer didn't break a basket support spider bracket... heat pump reversing valve get stuck... phone answerer go on vacation...

Any wind down your way? Pretty aggressive here lately. Thankfully haven't found any damage as of yet.

We had 55 - 60 MPH wind gusts ... And some more heavy rains yesterday

Oh we are well past the 3's ! We are at like 16 now in the span of a month ...
We had a power thing that haunted us for almost 2 weeks...

Hope things go better for you George...

You too, Tracy! Thanks. Hey, it's all part of the grand roller-coaster adventure of life. You know how it goes. Way i see it, it's like a blessing to get to experience that kind of stuff going wrong, in a sense. Gotta be fortunate enough to have the stuff in the first place. Sometimes it's easy to take things for granted when thankfulness is in order. Far more critical is our health and attitude. Glad you guys are doing well; best wishes and warm thoughts as always.
