    Well upon further studying ..
    I don't think it's a bear !!

It a nice Cougar print.. It mes 4 x 3 ... The pad shape is more of a cougar then a bear to me....

But it could be a yearling bear..
The problem is the over step.. That can happen with a step :baldy

Up on your porch??? I love the wildlife, but that's a lil to close for a cougar to come for me! What are ya'll going to do if it comes back? Will it get into your livestock?

I gathered that she would! We have a few bobcats around here, but nothing of any seriousness where my lambs and chickens are concerned. But a cougar??? Around the cattle???

Well I think the cattle don't have to worry... They have HUGE horns..ANd know how to use them...

Now the horse are Cougars favorite food.. But they are all very old..
I hope it was just passing through and nothing more then that..
But if it dos become a woe . HB will turn it in to a rug :D
I have a rug that was from the 40's

HB was talking to our neighbour ...
And he said the fella up the road a mile saw a Tan Cougar..
And the fella across the street from him saw 1 Dk brown and one tan !!
    All just last week..
So that to me was a good confirm....

Plus the neighbour was talking to the game warden.. And he also confirmed that we have cougars here ..
He said they have microchips in them and tagged..
But the state still denies it...:lol3

Not sure why, but the "official" line seems to be the same in more than a few states when large cats turn up where they are not supposed to be. Not positive what the current policy is, but Kentucky used to claim that they did not exist here. The two I have seen may have been traveling through, but they were here:deal My brother-in-law had one in his front yard a couple of months ago.

Same here, according to NC Wildlife there are no known cougar populations :huh

They always say, that it must be an escaped "pet" :lol3 - oddly enough I know goat farmers that had pyrs tree these pets, and I know of one pic taken about 6 miles from here. I guess I keep my pyr...

I saw a small goat farm off VA91, in southern VA, that had about 6 pens, all 6 had goats, chickens and one Great Pyr. I had figured that the dogs were for the coyotes, but maybe not:dunno

coyotes, bob cats, coons - anything that does not belong to the pack is fair game. Mine killed a bobcat last year :cry (very sad, but the bobcat took about a goose a week).

and it keeps bears away too - bears don't like dogs
