LOL yes it has been a while since I posted in my thread ..

I hope everyone had a Wonderful Christmas....
And a start to a great New Year...
    WOW can you believe it's 2014 !! I know I can't :baldy

I turned another year older.. Wiser well that's still up for grabs...:lol3

The weather last week was a doozie ;we hit -8* ..That is not a typo...

HB's BD is coming up And I know he has been wanting to replace his 30 yr.old Moose hide moccasins ,that I had repaired a few times..

So his surprize is a new pair that made ..
Took about a week on and off... To make ..I really didn't have a pattern.. Just his old ones as references..

My old 1901 treadle was able to do some of the sewing, the heel box I did by hand with seniew.. And hand whip stitch the foot box...
I had American Bison hide layang around and used that for the body of the moc...

I sure hope they fit him..As this was the first time I have ever made anything like this... I think they came out OK ....

I sure hope he likes them....

    I will get my RR's from 2013 up..:lol3

I've been hanging out on the four threads that speak to Trevor Wares "Go West Young Man" adventure and tragedy.

Tracey....I hope you don't mind my placing this in your thread.....

Trevor and his Mom could use all our help.

Our winter has been cold as well - I love snow, so of course I don't think we've had enough (kids have had enough snow days though, at this rate we'll be making up snow days well into the summer.)

All is well at the little farm here, the animals are cozy and so are we. Boring is good, ya know what I mean?! HBs gonna be a very very happy fella with very very happy feet once he gets his new kicks, I'm way impressed that you made them; you are a jack of all trades!

Take care and hope to see you in the near future.

    I know it's been a while since I posted..
I apologize for that...I have started selling stuff on EBay, and it takes up a lot of my spare time :baldy

Well I was at the sink the other day doing few dishes.
Looking at the snow and the birds feeding at the feeder...I turned around for a sec.
    And BAM !!!
A hawk had caught a Redwing Blackbird !!!

At first glance I thought she was a Merlin.. But wait it has reddish eyes..

Then I thought a Coopers Hawk.. Nope too small.

Then I said that is a Sharp Shinned Hawk!!
They are a little bigger than The Merlin ,but NOT as big a the Coopers

    The young Sharp Shinned Hawk ;
has white dots on the upper wings, her eyes are just turning red.

She worked on plucking it...And kept her keen eye out for something larger that could have taken her out! We have a young Bald Eagle around, as well as Red-tailed hawks and she knows it...

Once she plucked it about 80% ,she took off with he warm meal...
I can imagine that it must be hard to fly off and hold it well with most of the feathers on it's prey...

It was a great privilege to watch her tend to a much needed meal on a cold end of winters day....
I just thought I would share this great gift...

On 2/13/14 we had a good size snow storm..13+" Here's a bunch of photos from that midweek storm ...BTW we are at 36" for the 13/14 winter season...

Looking down the drive and the Valley..

Our big old GMC farm truck, It just looked cool..

I just liked this trees look with the snow..

Highbinder blowing snow.. He has almost a mile of driveway to blow, plus 3 hills oops 4....

This blower has been a godsend for us on the Mountain...

HB picked this cool hat up for me at the BYOB last year.. Hmmm I still need to do that RR...

My snow removal outfit.. I have had this coat since we did salting and sanding/plowing for a living.. I use to be the sander ..HB drove the dump/plow truck ;I filled the sander/salt hopper via shovel ...I needed a coat that was warm and would shed freezing rain and snow..

You ask it look heavy ..Yes the coat weighs a ton...But I just love the look and the cut and lines of it...

That day being the day before Valentines Day .. So I made Cronuts ! OM Gosh are they good..:tb

HB asked if I would make Fish and Chips with onion rings.. My home made spicy beer batter recipe.. And Home made prepared Horseradish, for the cocktail sauce.:tb
So I did ..After all it was Valentines day..:raabia

I hope you are all enjoying life...
