putting the frame together today
my wife says it looks pretty square
That swing arm pivot is very nice, probably over kill but very nice ! plug welded in the frame !!!!!!! You must have a very large dog your planning on hauling around. Don't tell me let me guess your building a work sidecar your mounting a Lincoln SA 200 and several hundred feet of welding cable and your going pipe-lining ? Your a credit to your father.DB
i am always a frade it wont be strong enough
When I see work like this I just want to give away all my tools and padlock my garage........
Don't form a line, that was rhetorical!
i see stuff on here every day that i drool over.
some times i wish i had deeeeep pockets so i could just buy what i wanted.
but what fun would that be.
Anyhow here is a pic of my body template
in black marker you can see a ural outline i wanted to go bigger
what do you guys think
I'd put more slope in the front end trying for a bit more aero nose, and make it a bit wider than the stock Ural, anyway to reduce the area or make it move through the air easier, but that's just my opinion.DB
In another thinner life I rode bicycle allot, at 20 mph 20% of the riders effort is overcoming air pressure (wind) at 30 mph its about 60% anything you can do to smooth the flow helps save energy.Your a creative guy have at it.db
That all sure looks familiar Zipper....LOL.
i got the body from you Claude
i want more room
Its looking great man.....................now you're the one making all the progress! I hope to get back in the shop this week to work on mine. Keep up the good work.
let me no when you want me to order the tube
are you using a Miller F-series Arcstation? Any thoughts, I've been debating on whether to bite the bullet and pick one up. My table is 24"X36"X1/2" plate about knee high, while I can move it, its not real portable.
its a 30 fx arcstation
I have no idea what you just said, but if you live on the Wet side of Washington then it sounds like you're somebody I should become friends with. Always wanted a friend with a metal shop in his garage!
Thanks for all your time yesterday it was much appreciated.
Also thanks for your very attractive offer the wife and i are talking it over
updated swingarm pics
Very nice Zipper, apparently St Claude likes your work as do I, hanging out where I do I see allot of other peoples half measures( fabrication) and your work is first class.DB
that little arcstation top is only 3/16s I believe I''d work on my skills building some legs for your table.db
its ok for light stuff and its mobile
Thanks db, the skills aren't a problem, adding another 20lbs to a table that is already 150-175lbs and has solid legs isn't going to make it any easier to move. Most of my stuff is portable so I can work away from my little shack, taking my table is a chore. The Arcstation may be the ticket and I would have more work space with both of them.
Zipper, sorry for the semi hijack of your thread, love the swingarm work, it solidifies the ideas that I had with my design. Looking forward to more.
i have over used that table and its not warped or fallen appart
it was a good investment
