Damn. I ride that area (motorcycle and bicycle) all the time and never thought I'd see Elcho mentioned on here. Is that Hunting River road or the Summit Lake fire lane?

I used to own a house in Elcho, Right across the street from the football field. Great area. The fishing and riding are spectacular.

At me to the list of riders to join. Mountain is about 100 mile run for me. Would also be up for a big bike ride (1190 adventure)

Neither. It is the Jack Lake Fire Lane which connects via short piece of Cty. Hwy T to Fitzgerald Dam Road which then crosses the Hunting River and pops out on Cty. Hwy U. All of which are more interesting than the Summit Lake Fire Lane. Last summer my brother and I tried to canoe the Hunting River from the abandoned T wayside to the Wolf River. After repeated groundings, we gave up and walked a couple of miles back to the car. I've successfully done it before, ... about 20 lbs. ago, but it must have been with high water in the spring.

I know exactly where that is. Where Fitzgerald Dam road crosses the Hunting River is one of my favorite fishing spots. Last year I was trout fishing at the wayside along T with the little pull-off east of where it sounds like you put your canoe in. A kid came floating down in a tiny kayak looking for ducks to hunt and dragging the whole way. I've never seen anybody in there with a boat.

I paddle the Wolf from the Post Lake dam down to the takeout along Lost Lake Road or the bridge at T frequently. Not as scenic as the Hunting, but more reliable water depth.

Last Saturday I drove (pickup truck) the fire lane from Veteran's Memorial Park south past the High Lake campgrounds, which is also a decent ride. The water from the Eau Claire river had breached a section of the road and it got a little dicey, though...

I'm only a weekend FIB flatlander, but if you ever want to ride sometime let me know.

For sure. I had family land in the area and have been spending time up there my whole life. Can't get enough of it.

Any interest in a Photo Tag game in the mapped area in the first post?
Or maybe one based around the Bay and inland a bit?
The "fox river area" one is in too populated an area for my taste.

Finally got to Mountain later in the evening yesterday. Trails were completely different with UTV's and ATV's tearing it up all day. It's wasn't anything bad, but just quite a change from 3 weeks ago.

I also couldn't believe the mosquitos! We were almost carried away! Bring your bug spray...

Smiles all the way till dark!

I was up there early in the day on Saturday, had the place to myself. Plan was to do the pipeline trail starting just north of 64. Trail was closed due to being under water.

I don't have the date carved in stone yet but, I'm looking at riding the Eagle River area on May 27th. Anyone going to be around there for a ride that Saturday?

    Memorial day weekend?
I'm hoping to be in Rhinelander.
    I'd have my drz.

But that's just a strong maybe right now. I'll know better what my plans are next week.

I'm the same "strong maybe" right now for the 27th. This Sunday I will be in Rhinelander for the WIXC Hare Scramble, providing I get the front break fixed on my 250.

The Pipeline doesn't open for motorized travel until June 1st. Apart from that there are sections closed due to the pipeline being exposed and water issues.
