I'm leaving Austin tomorrow for a couple of weeks of riding in the Smoky Mountains. On the way back I plan to ride the Natchez Trace in its entirety.

Are there any side stops I should see along the way? I've got time for sight seeing and don't know what to visit while I'm there.

Thanks for the info. I'll be returning home when I get a chance to ride the trace, so it'll be from the North, but I'll definitely check out the lunch stop.

It'll be middle of next week if you or anyone else want to join me for lunch. I'll post when I know the date.

And i'm down a little south wast of Jimmy in Kosciusko. the only thing you need to worry about on the Trace is there is no gas on there so know your mileage range and look for the towns that have exits and plain your stops. there's gas stations just off the trace all along it you just have to know them.

Any pamphlets, brochures, maps, etc that specialize in the Trace. Do the stops along the way have gas, food, motel, info ? Thanks.

this is about as good as it gets. http://www.nps.gov/natr/index.htm

as for gas, food or anything else. just get on Google maps or what ever you use and look at where the towns are. Gas stations are normally just off the trace when it passes by a town. it's not a big worry just make sure you are full when you get on it and know what towns you are going to stop for gas in.

and there's no food or gas on any of the sites on the trace but at the towns most of the time when you take a exit off you can see food or gas stations. if not they are wit in a mile.

The Trace is a great ride if you want to put your mind on cruise control and gently glide away the miles. 50 MPH is top legal speed, it drops to 40 in some areas.

Was talking with a lady today who had her SUV smashed up by a deer running into the side of it. This happened two days ago south of Raymond. Those big rats can cause some pain and damage.

I'm in Asheville, NC this morning, headed west through Smokey Mountain NP. My plan is to camp at the north end of the trace tonight.

UncleJimmy and EvilBollWeevil, I'll call to see if you can meet up for lunch tomorrow. :freaky
