Great going IndiaPaleAle!!
Also not far to the next county Alleghamy but then a good punt to Anson then back north to Ashe!!
Maybe I can get some file tags while I am out west this weekend!
64 was pretty enjoyable between I40 and Taylorsville.
I'll have a new tag up by mid-day Saturday. I'm going to take some time to explore the wonders of Allegheny County.
Nice grab. It looks like the tag was at the courthouse in Taylorsville. Am I right?
FishHunt: on the corner of W. Main Ave and N. Center St.
NC-Okie: did you figure out the purpose of the blue funeral tent? Was someone being buried there?
Blur: Thank you for making that map. I'd never be able to visualize the the order in my mind.
Yep real close to the Courthouse at Taylorsville.
I figured the awning was for an upcoming speech or dedication of some sort.
This is definitely a new wrinkle for a Tag game.
Something about riding a hindered miles just to find a tag to place instead of chasing a tag is cool.
I like that, too. I'm bringing a friend along tomorrow morning and we're planning to just ride through the county until we find something neat.
You came within spitting distance of my plant. It just off Taylorsville Highway, near the intersection with 64. less than a mile off 40.
Was it the one across from the Arby's and Ingles?
Down a little farther at the second light. Taylorsville highway is actually old 64. There is a large plant to the right, and we are down the side road next to it. It is exactly 70 miles each way from my house in Greensboro.
Sorry about the delay, folks. More about that later.
This is such a beautiful county! I'm heading back up once one of my bikes is working.
We passed through a city that was holding a mountain heritage festival. My friend said that the traffic was madness. I replied, "Madness? THIS. IS. TAGGING!!"
We continued heading NNW until we saw what apparently passes for a bridge in this county. That guy off to the right was a farmer fishing near his camp.
On the way back we stopped at a great Cuban place, then couldn't get my bike started (how embarrassing-- my friend's bike is British, and I'm the one breaking down). Long story short, I got a jump from a guy who didn't know his black clamp from his red clamp, and now my bike's starter turns over even when the starter button is not depressed, and the bike's ignition is in the "OFF" position. Is it making up for not starting at all earlier today? Anyway:
Does a tag count when the bike has to be trucked home?
Did our usual summer camping trip up there a month or so ago and put in at this bridge to go tubing back around to our campsite. Took 4 hours to tube maybe 2 miles at most but its very relaxing. Just tie the floating cooler to your inner tube, pop the top on a cold one and let the river take you away.
Interesting note which some may or may not know...This is on 1 of only 2 rivers in the world that flow north and it flows right thru our beautiful state.
I'd love to grab this tag, with all the great roads close by but doubt I'd have time to put it anywhere in the next county on the list in the alotted 7 day time-frame so most likely safe from me...
PS...sorry about your bike IndiaPaleAle. Any fix yet?
We go tubing on the Dan River just south of Hanging Rock. According to a bus driver I spoke to, their tube rides are a given length because if they're any longer, their customers will be too drunk when the drivers pick them up!
I also picked up what I think might be the meanest tag location in all of NC while I was out there. I might use it in the NCTOR game.
The initial problem with the bike was due to a loose terminal, which was the result of a cross-threaded terminal screw. The jump definitely messed up the starter relay, though. The odd thing is that I took the relay out, pulled the fuses, looked it over, put everything back, and the bike cranked right back up. :huh I figure that something fused together when I got the jump, and I broke apart whatever had fused together when I took the relay out (?). Beats me, really. A new relay is on its way for peace of mind.
Glad to hear it is a simple fix.
Sorry 'bout your bike, IPA!
Nice tag location. Sorry you had bike troubles.
No chance for me to grab this tag. Google just told me I am 350 miles away and no bike in sight.
On DAM I so want this as my avatar!!! And on a T-Shirt!!!
