Good day fellow inmates. Myself and a fellow inmate were looking for some "Big Bike Friendly" dirty action in and around northeast PA for next weekend. Our usual stomps into the VT/NH/ME mountains are still very covered in white.:cry

I was eye balling some green stuff north of Allentown, and east of Wilkes Barre, and south of Scranton. Gouldsboro State park? Delaware Water Gap Rec Area? Are any of these good places to adventure into?

Is there any snow cover left?

Looking for three things in this order:
    1. Great back woods riding.
    2. Good local flavor when it comes to eating
    3. Local hotel with bike friendly attitude!

Any recommendations out there? We are both on 950 ADV's and we tend to ride in very tight stuff for big bikes anyway.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

Haven't ridden around that area much. Hopefully someone can help you out.

If you want to go just a little further check out the area that is south of Rt. 6, North of I-80, west of Rt. 15 and east of Rt. 219 has some nice paved road and tons of dirt/gravel roads. I do some riding in that area every year. Mainly between Renovo and Snow Shoe, PA in the Sproul State Forest. I think by this weekend the snow, if any should be gone with the temperatures we are supposed to have. Should be nice and dirty! If you have any questions about the area I described PM me.

All depends on what you're looking for.

Remember that a whole bunch of the Water Gap area was farm land that was claimed under emanate domain to build a damn. That fell apart and it became a recreation area.

There are plenty of dirt roads and seasonal roads all thru that area. Not too technical but they can be fun. As an added bonus their are several abandoned settlements and farms to look for.

There is also some stuff in North New Jersey.

Google: Toc Island damn project or Walpack Center

To get a better view of where I'm going I like to use www.hawg-view.com

Very much like google maps but usually better zoom and some other options.

Like I said, not super technical but you could easily kill a weekend in the area.

Couldn't tell you about snow........I'm stuck in a desert at the moment.

Fishing season opens Saturday. That means there will be some more sportsmen in the arera. The ride along flatbrook rd is always nice.

If you are going to be in the arera let me know. My shock shoud be back on my bike by then and ill need to test it out.

I have a cabin in the Delaware State Forest near Dingman's Ferry and just spent the weekend there. The forest roads are FINALLY clear of snow. They aren't technical, but it's a beautiful area for riding. You can contact the district forester for a map at fd19@state.pa.us Milford is a nice little town and the Dimmick Inn there has very good food with some unique selections, and a nice atmosphere. PM me if you want any more specifics.

I don't know anything specific, but those familiar with the area will occasionally suggest riding down the tracks found under power lines to find all flavors of connecting trails. It shouldn't be too hard to find tighter stuff that way. You want to stay away from mines where you don't have a permit, but other than that I understand there's quite a lot of riding in that region/
