Thats right, i'm going back. :baldy :lol3

Myself and a few others are contemplating having another crack at getting to Neale Junction. :baldy Well i'm going and the rest are contemplating. :D

When, Easter 2012. April 6th to the 9th.

Last time we spent a night at Yeo Station and that is the plan this time around. Aim to be camped at Yeo Station on Saturday night. From there it will be off to Neale Junction on Sunday. I'm toying with the idea of using Yeo as a base and returning to Yeo on Sunday afternoon, a 330k round trip, but thats to be thought through.

Yeo is a top camping spot with a working well and a bit of a hut. :clap

A few ideas have been tossed around about routes etc with some thinking of trailering their bike to somewhere in the goldfields and riding from say Kalgoorlie. My thoughts at this stage would be to slab it to Coolgardie then hit the dirt roads through Ora Banda, Menzies, Kookynie, Laverton etc etc.

Got a few logistics to work out, fuel being the main one, but things will evolve. It is 9 months away. :lol3:lol3

    Weather should be OK. :D

I'm in at this stage Neil but it is a fair way off. Wife gave me a tentative yes anyway... :clap

Your plan sounds good to me but I'm sure it will change.

    Cheers, Richard.

As you know this is pretty much a given!!! :evil

To all the naysayers about the census run by the Bureau of Statistics, we would not have this wonderful resource to call on to do pretty graphs to do things like plan adventure weekends!! :deal

Damn straight i am interested, if that is all the temp gets up to then it will be a good excuse to get out if the heat up here for a wile.
Yes 9 months seems to be the magical time for things to evolve.:evil
I will book leave next week, and if it falls through I can always cancel it.
Have read many reports on this ride, looks like fun :freaky

    Good onya Neil. :thumb

IMHO, keep your gear on the bike and do the betterer route back to Laverton via the southern edge of Lake Rason. Got a GPX file for it if you want.

Plus... if you leave your gear at Yeo it only means we can call you a softcock for riding the hardest part unladen :evil :D

    I hear ya. :ear
We will see. Time may be a factor and I guess people will go about things differently. Plenty of people pointing the softcock stick at me mate. :D Why do ya think i'm going back. :lol3

Is there any fuel left at NJ. :lol3:lol3:lol3

I can think of a coupla ways you might get fuel dropped out there but it'll mean sacrificial jerries.

Only jiving you about the softcock call mate. With that sand out there, the gear only changes the 'degree' of difficulty... any which way, its still a challenge on a 650 bike.

I'm still scarred (and scared too) from 2011 :lol3

Can't fit NJ in next year cos planning a biggie for 2012... up Gunbarrel for a 200 clicks > north on Gary Hwy to Well 33 CSR > east on Gary Junction Rd to Alice > Plenty Hwy > Cape York. Home via NT and Kimberley.

I'm doing Perth to Cairns around that time, probably on the r1100gs.
    My only constraints are:
Daughter's birthday on the 3rd April.
Must be in Cairns before the 23rd, for a Cape York tour.
It might work out. I'll see how the NJ plan unfolds.

Seriously looking at this. Missed NJ this year as I had to go to Victoria. Looks a beaut. Any other Albany boys interested in going with a yellow bellied back marker?

A person, such as myself, not overburdened with talet. With an excess of caution. Keen to ride at the end of a line of other riders.
