I need last minute dual sport ride advice. I've got 2 days to make it from Lake Chelan to Kelowna. I'm riding an xr650l, would like to get off the asphalt along the way to see some good country. Nothing too crazy. Also a good place to stop along the way to camp overnight. Thanks!

You might look up the Kettle Vally Railroad, you can ride most of the old railbed on Motorcycles (Arguablly). Once you get closer to Kelowna you'll run into closures, but it's a start. http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=595530

Also pick up a BC Backwoods map book as soon as you cross the border (Or via Amazon). It's the go to book for trails/roads up there.

    Good luck.

Thanks, I appreciate the advice. I've never been up that way and I'm looking for a good couple of days riding and exploring.

Check this out on a map-

Winthrop, wa. Go toward lake pearrygrin, east chewuch rd... Ride right pastlake pearrygrin, about 6-7 miles out e chewuch, turn slight right onto nfd 37, then turn left onto nfd 39, this intersection is on a hairpin corner. Take 39 all the way to nfd 300. Its a main intersection. Nfd 300 turns into toats coulee rd, which runs onto loomis-orovile rd, which will run into hwy 97.

Lots of dirt, Lots of great views. You could easily spend a day or two out in the Okanogan there. Whats your fuel range? :evil

In Twisp the Cinnamon Twisp bakery is good. Stay away from the Twisp brewery unless you like being treated like trash. Good samwiches at Hanks Grocery.
In Winthrop the Schoolhouse Brewery is awesome, excellent beer and the fish tacos are the best!

I did it in the other direction, traveling via WABDR and camping in Conconully. The WABDR rocks.

After you finish the WABDR and cross the border at Nighthawk, turn left to Keremeos and then take 3A to Kaleden and 97 into Penticton. From Penticton, take the Naramata Road past Naramata where it turns into Chute Lake FS road. Take that to Chute Lake (you can also jump on the KVR earlier and take the long switchback to Adra Tunnel, which is closed but a short, easy bypass is available) and then you are on the KVR 'til you get to Gillard Creek FS and take that down into Kelowna.

As for map books in BC, I prefer the MapArt British Columbia Back Road Atlas to the Backroad Mapbooks but both will do the job.
