Putting out feelers with this inquiry...

I will be needing to ship the '09 Stelvio from San Diego, California to our little burg here in Maine within the next few months.

I am well aware of the many shipping services available and in fact have used several of them including Federal and others and I most recently utilized the U-Ship.com on-line booking service, that worked well.

So, please do not flood this thread with the suggestions of U-Ship or others... I appreciate that help but suffice it to say I am aware of those outlets.

This is more of a search for anyone that happens to be heading east in the near future, next few months and has the vehicle and space to haul the Guzzi... Obviously I will pay a reasonable rate for the service.

I guess I need to say also that I have no interest in offers to do a "Fly & Ride" for me...

If I can arrange the West Coast work schedule correctly, I will do a Fly & Ride myself in July or so.

Thanks for any leads on reliable persons that are bonded and insured, preferably with good references that may be able to help out. If that person cannot make the trek all the way to Maine then I could go meet them in Southern New England.

    Best,
    Rob

So instead of using a well known professional shipper, you would rather post here for a stranger to take your bike cross country? A bonded and insured stranger? Isn't that what uship is? I don't get it....

    Hey Off,
Well, this might end up being a long story so get comfy…

I did not say that I was not going to use a well known shipper, I may end up with that option.

I am in in no particular rush to get this motorcycle back East although I would like to use it for the early Spring dirty work. I am buying another Hawk GT to leave out in San Diego as my commuter while I am there.
I have the luxury of time to seek out transport or have inmates refer their friends and references to me…

I trust this community, this request is not like looking for a hooker on Craigslist where any ass hat will tell you that they have just the thing for ya, and screw you over. I trust folks but I am cautious.

You often hear of tales “Oh man, I could have helped out with that” after the fact so this is more of a search for those hidden opportunities to bubble up to the surface.

Anyway, I have been handed some constructive leads regarding possible transport and in that I am again, not in a hurry I can investigate all leads.

If I end up with hiring a shipping company then so be it but I always come here first for assistance if I think that there may be a chance of hookin’ up with a fellow enthusiast.

    Best,
    Rob

Try inmate Maineroot and see if he's racing in the Mexican 1k this May. He's a Maine local and has organized some bike shipping in the past.

i know he said that, but does he REALLY mean it:D!!

I was thinking a fairly direct route. you know, sandiego to lapaz to mainland mex to panama to belize to florida and up the coast to maine.

Silly me thinking that the line stating "no interest in offers to do a "Fly & Ride" for me..." would suffice... :scratch

    See...? He got it...! :clap

And you want to pay ME how much...? :lol3

Yes, ABDog, that is the rare, seldom seen in the US copy of the Guzzi big V-Twin that Honda built recalling their earlier blatant copy of the late 70's Guzzi design in the CX500 and 650. This time they stayed true to the air cooled principle. Still, only a handful were produced and I am happy to have acquired one.

This is the spy photo done by a good friend photographer for me... still one of my favorite shots. :D
