Need Some Hawk advice.

    How's It going fellas, Im new to the forum, and feel honored to be here.
    Now that formalities are out of the way, I need some advice.

    I have just recently purchased a 1988 Honda Hawk Gt Nt650, Bone-Stock, except for a Corbin seat, Do any of you know any relatively inexpensive mods for this bike to increase performance?

    I have a Twobros, I like it a lot.Go with factory Jet kit if you want to get into the carbs. I have racetech in forks, and Fox shock. I like Metzlers for tires. That enough to get you started?

    BTW, the forks are same as F2-F3 and CB1 if you wanna lower those bars, easy swap with Clip-ons

    Mine has the stock pipe and a jet kit, tuned on a dyno. Improved the mid-range, with a loss of mileage. From what I understand, if you want power out of these, you need to open the airbox before anything else (including a pipe). There is a lot of restriction there.

    I would do suspension and brake mods. The forks are the same diameter as the F2/F3, but are not cartridge style. Progressively wound springs and a Race Tech emulator will do wonders up front. The stock shock is a joke after 10-20k miles, and not worth rebuilding. I have a Fox that is fully tuneable, though they don't make motorcycle shocks anymore.

    Put a braided brake line on the front to improve the feel in the front. The rear is more than adequate.

    And don't forget to ride the damn thing.

    I have had a lot of Hawk's through the years and built a lot of them.
    My opinions:
    Better fork springs
    Slip-on, the stock headpipes are decent for stock motors.
    Take the airbox cover off and use fender washers through the bolts to hold the air filter in.
    Factory jet kit
    Lower bars, poor mans method, mount the stockers under the upper triple clamps
    good rubber

    Same Color as mine!
    I should mention mine came with a Supertapp, I liked it too, full stainless is nice, I just wanted to change............
    I also removed the airbox and installed Pod filters(foam).
    Stainless front line is nice also, stock brake is adequate for my needs
    Beware the Dynojet kit for this bike, go with Factory
