So, my wife and I adopted a dog a short time ago as a companion for our dog that we've had since he was a puppy. They are brother and sister, separated at birth, now six years old. Here's more info my wife wrote up: I am heartbroken to say that we cannot keep her and need to find her a new loving home. We love her and she is a great dog but Minnie and our dog Maxx do not get along. Minnie is a wonderful dog. She is friendly and playful but also calm and relaxed. She loves to go for walks, play fetch or just snuggle on the couch. She is great with people and does not mind being poked and prodded by Veterinarians. She has had some training and is treat motivated. She walks well on a leash and obeys basic commands, but a refresher course would probably be helpful. She is great being left alone when you go to work and is not destructive. She does not like being confined in a crate or room alone if she knows you are there. I think her previous owners isolated her some and so she has some separation anxiety if she knows you are in the house. If you leave the house she is calm and content to wait for your return. She knows how to use a dog door but can also be left inside without having accidents for a reasonable amount of time. She is great with people but not young children. She is a cattle dog and they are prone to herd small moving creatures. Older children 10+ would probably be fine. She would probably be best as an only dog or may be ok with another dog if they are very submissive. If you are interested or know anyone who is interested in giving her a new home please let me know. The adoption will go through Dreampower and we will pay the adoption fee.
