Very private, with big locked forestry gates that you can't lift a bike over. And grumpy locals.
Feel free to have a nosey up Christian Creek Rd though, you can poke your way down to Dart River Rd, but that's where you'll find restricted access

Yep, one of them "exclusive gated communities", gotta keep the riff-raff out somehow. :evil
Trouble is, it's a long way in there via Christian Creek only to discover it's all closed up. Whangapeka end, not so bad, cos it's enroute to Rolling Junction anyway which is worth the ride on it's own.

Bit cold for me sorry bro - tho you prob already know that :shog
Will be a beaut day. I should get into the workshop & get that screen fixed up.

Got lots of copper piping - thinking about running a boiler setup off one of the jugs, winding the copper piping around the jug then up & around my torso. Could be quite warm however you may have to bring the coffee out to me in the carpark - I'll be the one unable to get off the bike.

How about those guys riding up North - committed or need to be?:lol3

Alll good, but it seems to be warming up a tad here, and I am pretty sure I have never been up their in the winter.

Maybe you could run some copper pipe off the other jug to make the coffee, then that would save us bringing it out to you.

Anyone fancy a fossick around in Hira forest tomorrow? I have finally got the 640 back together. Not up for any road riding until it gets a WOF and rego (soon as I can swing it during the week).

Has anyone been into the Clarence River Valley via Kekerengu?

Do you need to gain permission from anyone to get through? Is it viable to try to go in during October?

    Cheers.

Not if there's been any rain recently. The farmer takes you across the river and you still need a key/combination to the gate at the Kaikoura end.

Would be a cool ride though.

Did someone try to call me this morn about 10.30? came from an unknown number but couldn't recognise the voice???

Went for a quick blat over the Maunga this morn. Man has it always been that rough? I swear 'i don't remember it being that bad. The dam end has been tidied up with a dozer.
Got to get out a bit more to get my skills up again.

We mountain-biked it from Pelorus a few months ago, I thought it was reasonably smooth on the Pelorus side.

I was in Nsn getting some wire and led's for the brick's speedo and thought I'd call in and drink your coffee and have a look at Schmity's wiring/sensor mount.

    It's o.k. though....
I lost focus and went here instead

    And saw some of these

Fishing was a dead loss :eek1 Still a bit early for snappers :evil
But I really wanted to drag the dredge through some old scolly beds, just to see if they were coming back. They're not :cry I got a scollop entre but that was it.
Back in the day you could go 4 mile off Kaiterie and fill the dredge in 15 mins. Ahhhhhh..... those were the days

Yea the scallops are much the same here at the mo, but the snapper are biting in the Pelorus Sound and have been all winter. :evil

This was my mate a few months back, he let another one a slightly smaller size go as well
