Yes, I hit the wall of water, but it was ok because it was warm and the gear works well to keep the water out. It was just good to get a ride in. Mike said you stopped by.

File photo or did it dry out once you headed south? It continued to rain pretty steady my entire ride home.

It was nice just to get a ride in, did about 30 miles through the valley, showed up an hour late to work, feelin pretty good.Co-workers with broken bikes did'nt seem at all interested in how well my new winter riding gloves worked.I'l probably do it again tomorrow:D

Any of you have a couple of these I can borrow for a couple weeks? I think they have to be 128's but I'm willing to try anything at the moment. Adv 2013.1 is about to start and I forgot mine were destroyed on my last trip.

Is that an old proprietary data card? My Garmins take SD cards so i'm curious.

So if the scooter hadn't stopped in the wrong place, the truck driver would have had room to make the turn safely and there'd be nothing to look at.

Sort of. He had enough room to make that. Problem is he turned too early and hit the high curb. Couple that with his speed and angle..boom. if he went straight out, damn near hit the scoot and cars noses and then straightened out,he'd have been fine. I just head right at em and put it in neutral when they're over the line. They can fix their own mistake while everyone else has to wait too.

Agreed, while the Scoot was too far out, that is a textbook example of how NOT to make a turn with a semi. They make us demonstrate how to do it properly to get our CDL, but I am always baffled how many drivers I see that can't negotiate a turn without wiping out a flower bed. However, if you are beyond that white stop line anyone pulling a (big) trailer is within their rights to make you BTFU if you are truly making it difficult.

I donno, I dont see that he hit anything. Looks to me like the truck was traveling too fast for the turn and flipped it. Riders mistake put him nearly in the crush zone. But im not sure if the accident doesnt happen even if noone is in the oncoming lane.
From what I have seen of videos of driving in countries where scooters are common, this is the normal placement for scooters at stop lights. Filter past the cars waiting at the light, then pull in front of them at the intersection. A good way to get yourself in a fight around here but seems accepted in other parts of the world.

Any way you look at it still a damn lucky rider. :eek1

A couple places in Pittsburgh had police by them issuing tickets to folks over the white lines. Specifically south side works and Heinz center. They got tired of being called out every hour or two for blocked roads due to deliveries. About a week or two into it we stopped having problems.

Rode from Minerva to Wintersville in the pouring rain and howling winds to pick up a truck I had purchased. Strapped on the bike was a wheel chock and some tie downs. Quite an adventure in that stuff.
