Must. fight. high. fender. mod.
Make. the voices. go away.
Jeebus, no shit.
Mine needs an oil, brake fluid and fork juice change, not farkle.
But the voices say I need a high fender. And a fancy headlight. And a bash plate. And bar risers...
Make. the voices. stop.
I think I can help. That high fender has got to reduce the effectiveness of the radiator. I'm sure of it. Really.
Well, I have succesfully fought it for three years now. But the low fender finnaly broke at the mounting point after being stuffed with too much mud.
The big problem wont be the high fender. It will be the brake mod that will have to go with it. I'm think'n 320mm disc w/ 4 piston caliper. $$$$$$$$$$
Those tires look sweet. Now I'm going to have to ride my SE saturday as I am knobbyless on the Adventure
Cool, So your still on for Sat. ride. Don't forget to bring a SAS valve.
Off road pics soon to come......(monday)
So far I've now put about 20 miles on this tire setup.
Well, yesterday was a ride in the rain and they felt OK. I wasn't leaning the bike over like I could w/ the scorps but I didn't die. Stopping seamed fair, I'm pretty cautious in the rain when braking anyway but I didn't slide around. I have yet to get on the freeway and try these out. That will be tested on Sat. I've been taking it easy accelerating also, but I'm sure these would just smoke if I tried to get going fast.
Maybe keeping these tires on will keep me from riding so fast now. (at least on pavement)
What the crap, how did I miss the Cjracer thread. Man you have put a ton of miles on that bike and effectively blinged the crap out of it. By the by, my D606's that I put on like a week before Cannontrek now have about 1500 miles on them and are still wearing really well. Hope that you are having fun this weekend tearing around in the dirt. Are you going to ride the MCCCT on that monster next year.... That my friend would be fun. Keep up the great updates on the bike.
Man now I want a 9fiddy, I was just looking into getting a KDX220 for the trails and keeping the street tires on the XR, but maybe I should go orange instead?
We'll have to see. I was having one heck of time keeping up w/ you on my LC4. You'd have to give me a days head start if I took the 950.
On Sat the dealer that I bought my bike from had an open house and Jeepboy, Q-dog and I went down to do some test rides. Got to ride the 950SM, 950SE, the dealer's 560SM race bike (street legal)on the street and a 400exc, and 300exc on his track. That 950sm is a blast, so was the 400exc, so light.
Jeepboy took some pics of me on the track hope they turn out ok. ill put them up ASAP.
Sounds like it was a good time. Man test riding that many bikes in one day.., kind of makes you choke up a little.
Can't wait to see the pics.
It was good talking to you on Saturday, CJ, and to see the subject of this thread for real. I was the guy with the funny accent (apparently) who rides an Orange 950 (although I was on, rather in, a silver Toyota at the time.). I tested the same bikes you did, and wish I hadn't. I now want to add a SM and SE and XC to my garage, only the budget doesn't go that far!
Cliwar, It was joy talking w/ you also. All those bike were a blast, but you forgot to mention the 525 EXC, street legal in the shop:eek1 . That one might be fun also. I guess I would take anyone of those if I was forced upon one. Keep in touch, it would be fun to do some trips next summer.
Some pics form Sat.
Last one, A little 950 roost. Thanks Jeepboy for the pics.
I've made up some SAS plate to do take that stuff off this winter. Any one else interested in some?
Front fender info.
I ordered it from Parts Unlimited. It's the Acerbis Supermoto fender.
This is the Acerbis Part # on the package 0008033.010.098
The part # from Part unlimited is 1403-0017
Supermotard F Fend ORG
Yea. I'm interested. How much and can you ship to Western Canada?
I got some new goodies mounted up this weekend and the 10,000 mile valve check done. Good thing I had room in the kitchen. Everything was still in spec, it was very time consuming bet nice to know how things work now.
