Looks like he is using their race light quick release mount kit ($120) and then using a metal plate to connect the squadron polisport mask to the male end quick release bracket.

That's right, except I had the fork mount components sitting in the garage from a crashed 8" race light. All I had to do was order the Tecate mounting plate and I was good to go.

    Hey guys

Sorry haven't been to active lately on the forums have been taking on multiple different tasks.

Like a few guys mentioned both the Squadron and Squadron XL use the same LED the Cree XML2 LED the main difference is the size of the housing allowing us to use the high speed spot reflector. This is the same reflector that we use in the High Speed OnX LED Light Bar. Therefore even greater distance can be achieved.

The smaller Squadron is a 3x3" and the Squadron XL is a 4.5 x 4.5". We also have new lenses for the XL to change the different beam patterns since the high speed spot reflector is used in each pattern. There is a clear lens for all spot, a half n half lens( half clear and half wide-cornering) this is the driving/combo, and there is an all diffused wide-cornering light.

The Squadron XL also has a built in 50% mode which will take place of the dimmer. We are working on a wiring adapter to utilize your stock hi/lo switches to activate the 50% and 100% modes.

We also have version of the Squadron for the 2008-2013 KTMs and a version for the 2014 as well. Retail pricing is $374.95 before the ADVrider discount.

Hope this helps let me know if you guys have any questions

    Thanks
    Mike

    Mike;
What is the depth difference between the Squadron and the XL?
I have a 640 KTM Adventure that has been converted to the Enduro headlight( No more fairing).........I need to find a way to get some light out there. I'm toying with the idea of putting a Squadron into the KTM headlight panel.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated!

    Cheers

Having recently bought the Squadron and dimmer kit.. ugh. I've not even installed mine, all of it is still in box/bags. I wish I'd known you were working on a kit that had a built in dim capability.

The depth between the motorcycle Squadron XL and the Squadron are actually the same. If you have about 2.75" you should be good.

    Mike,

it would be really cool if you would be able to dimm the Squadron (XL) with a little poti... Even 50% might be too bright to drive as a drv light on German streets. Any future plans?

Love the beam / driving combo, which would give me the perfect light for drv. here in Europe, but need that dimming capabilities from lets say 10..20% to full incl. a highbeam bypass...

All that with a waterproof poti of course :)

    Cheers

+1. I find that 20 percent brightness is about the highest that I can run leds in traffic at night, mine switch to 100 percent when I hit the high beams courtesy of my Skene dimmer.

Keep in mind that to dim an LED you need a PWM Dimmer (Pulse Width Modulator), not a regular potentiometer.

Additionally it's nice to have the high beam bypass so that you can run the LED dimmed with the low beam, but they go to 100% power when the high beam is turned on.

Baja Designs, Skene Designs, and ADVMonster all make a PWM dimmer w/ High beam by pass. I have used all three and find the ADVM one to be the simplest.

Jupp... i know that you need a pwm rather than a normal Poti. my question
is do the Squadrons support an external PWM, or do they already have a
    controll port for that?

Question regarding the Complete Squadron XL kits for the KTM 690. What year Headlight shell comes with the KTM kit or do they all fit the same? Can I specify which shell?
    Thanks

No built in dimmer, but you can use any aftermarket pwm dimmer

Anyone have a picture of the beam pattern of the new Squadron XL with the combination beam? It's peaking my interest, I'm also curious as to how bright it is at 50%. Not that I'm planning on playing in traffic in the dark, but sometimes, stuff happens.
