A couple weeks ago I had the dealer change the oil on my bike because I had recently been kinda rough on the bike and it had about 12K kms since the last service.

I asked if I could see the condition of the screens and filter. As it turned out the screens were spotless and the filter was fine (not deformed like earlier filters).

Convieniently, the screens and filter were accessible with the Motoventure bash plate mounted. The interesting thing was the mechanic just dumped the oil on the bash plate then blew off the oil residue with contact cleaner. Saves labour and I would never had known the bash plate was left in place during the oil change if I didn't go back to check out the screens and filter.

I'm actually very pleased to have seen how the service was performed as I didn't have to worry about any of the bash plate mounting screws getting messed up. (I used loctite on em when I mounted the plate).

    ...anyway just sharing.

Nice. I usually use PJ1 for the cleanup, but I'll bet contact cleaner is cheaper.

I wish they had made a relief in the side of the KTM skid plate to remove the filter. A small hole in the front left corner would have also been great to drain oil.

Thankfully, the skid plate comes off really easy.

The filters are not going to be deformed any more. If you look in the center of the new filter, it has a pressure relief valve. So, you will not get oil starvation anymore, you'll just get dirty oil.
