The extra category (#37) is Recent Finds (Recently Found). You only see that category if you have previously done a WhereTo? search for something.

Ah, now this makes sense. I can add Fuel Services directly to my Main Menu or Drawer this way. Awesome.

Must admit, I haven't looked at Setup/Main Menu as much as I should have... in fact I hardly remembered it was there. I guess I have the same affliction as Dan. Galloping Old Age.

    Hmm

I have been following this section with interest, especially as I just learned how to add a shortcut The Fuel search function would be nice for me too, and as my version is 4.60 I tried a few things.

It seems the FUEL 'where to' is available in a few places. I went to my single tap "Favourites' page and using the 'change favourites' button, then 'add favourite' the 'FUEL Services' was available, cool :)

I then went into Setup/Main Menu/Add and I could also select Fuel Services and out it in my drawer as well :)

And to answer the question raised above, yes I could select lodging, or hospitals or whatever I wanted in EITHER location, even though one of them has been selected before

    Cheers

Yes, anyplace you can put an App/Shortcut Icon you can add the WhereTo? Searches. But, you can't (via the menu's) add it twice to the same Menu Page or the Favorites Dashboard. Not that you would want to I suppose.

UPDATE: The Montana Dev Team are probably getting a kick out of watching me s-l-o-o-o-w-l-y figure out that there isn't a problem. :norton

I finally received an email response about my security screw issue. The person agreed with me that it sounds like the screw is too short, but suggested that I just put in a longer one. I had to reply to him that I liked the Torx screw, as it provides a small amount of security. Replacement would be a pain in the butt, as it requires disassembly of the mount, and would eliminate the security aspect of the "security screw." I asked him if there was any way that they could simply replace the mount. We'll see what he replies. Here is the email he sent me:

    Dear Aaron,

Thank you for contacting Garmin International. I would be glad to help
    you with this.

I believe I have an understanding regarding the situation you currently
have, but to be sure a video may help (if you do not mind).

Additionally, it may be a case where the screw could unfortunately be
too short. At a local hardware store you should be able to find a longer
screw (M3 x 6mm long screw) which will fit the mount. Please let me know
    if this remedies the trouble.

I had the same issue on one of my two mounts....I ended up taking it part and removing the washer. That gives it just enough length to engage the threads....

    That's it. I can't stand any more.

If Garmin is gonna make it so easy, I am going to make a page with links and quotes to all of their Customer Support Failures.

    They are epic at failing.

It's too easy to hand a Garmin problem back to the Customer via email. I would not accept this response. I know it takes time away from your personal life but make a phone call and don't hang up until you have the issue resolved. Escalate to a Supervisor if need be. If that doesn't work for you maybe sending this Prod.Support response email to Mr. Cliff Pemble would be a good idea.

If I were a Garmin Exec I'd be embarrassed by the Product Support suggestion that the Customer should "fix" a engineering/manufacturing defect in my product.

Tim Fe was the Support Specialist that worked with me to replace my Tempe. Sometimes you get a good one, eh?

Not that I would ever resort to doing that...

P.S. New Post in the Wisdom and FAQ Thread. Bli55 gave me permission to add his post about replacing the Security Screw from the Rugged Mount.

That would be very helpful, I think. What a PITA.

Right? That was my first thought, as well. You guys want me to go to a hardware store, buy parts, take apart my mount, and fix it myself, instead of just replacing it? Seriously?

Modified the message to shorten it, but that was the response for which I was hoping. Maybe I need to contact Mr. Fe directly. How annoying.

I found it easier to just fix it than deal with CS trying to get a replacement that may very well have the same issue.

How many of you stuffed earplugs in the battery compartment to fix that issue rather then send it back for a replacement that will do the same thing. I pick my battles, this one wasn't worth it....YMMV

I'm not agree with the CS rep that told you to replace the screw....if a replacement is really what you want call back and talk to someone else....

Ok I just got my Montana 650. It is still at version 4.20. I've been following along and learned how to select Fuel Services under the Where To? menu. But now I want to put it back to just show the basic Where To? icon and it makes me pick an item UNDER the Where To? selection menu. How do I do it?
In other words, how do I change it

FROM THIS: [IMG] TO THIS: [IMG]

Also do you recommend I go to the latest version 4.60 right away?
p.s. anybody want me to post a screen from 4.20 first? if so be specific and I'll find it for you.

snooker, I know you already know about the Montana wiki, and have followed the setup process here.

To get the "Where To?" icon back, select Setup -> Main Menu -> Add Item -> Applications -> Where To?

p.s. - I would make a full backup of your Montana as received, and then update to v4.60.
