New inmate moving to Santa Rosa. Anyone locals interested in helping me get settled in?
Check this out:
Cancelled for today but will reschedule soon.
Also keep eye an open for the Mendo National Forest Rally in early May.
Lots of inmates attend.
Fun dual sport/dirt bike riding rally with lakeside camping and excellent company, BBQ and beers.
Local off-road riding areas:
Mendocino National Forest: http://www.fs.usda.gov/mendocino
Cow Mountain BLM: http://www.blm.gov/ca/st/en/fo/ukiah/cowmtn.html
check out "The Motorcycle Shop" owned and run by locals in Santa Rosa, good for parts and service, also to buy and sell bikes on consignment, only $100/month to sell yours there...have bought two and sold one, especially liked selling that way as people from Craigslist can check the bike out and meet you there rather than at home if they are serious http://www.the-motorcycle-shop.com/mcshop/Home.html
Lots of great back road riding though the roads are not maintained well anymore and are ROUGH...but looks like you have the right bikes for that. Some good short loops over to Napa county are on St. Helena RD, Chalk Hill, and Trinity grade and many others....out to the coast on Coleman Valley RD, Skaggs Springs RD, Mountainview RD, etc. If you make it up to Pt. Arena there is an interesting independent shop up there too http://www.thezenhouse.net/
(I have no connection to either shop other than being a happy customer)
Welcome, and let me know if you are planning any Mojave rides. I'll be heading out there a few time s in January 2013.
thanks for the compliments....
