Please - send some photos and short (or long) stories about some of the places. You'll be "Published" - you'll be "Famous" - you'll be a "Chick Magnet"! (Even more than you might be now) :lol3

Bikerfish - glad you like the site. That invitation is open to you, too. :deal

Just posted a hike report with lots (75 or so) of photos from our farm near Petersburg to the old 1-room school house in Shook Gap where my Great Grandfather taught school for many years. Shook Gap is near the South Branch Potomac River just a few miles north of Smoke Hole, and about 3 miles from our farm.

It's not a "Ride Report" and it's on a private road that is inaccessible (read: gated, locked, and posted) to the public, but there are a lot of you out there that know this area of WV and I thought you might find at least some of it interesting. So, I posted the report on my personal site:

    Hope you enjoy the story.

Just updated: Added July events statewide. Sorry for the delay - power outage put me behind schedule this month.

Lots of interesting activities - Mountainfest Bike Rally, some country fairs starting up, and more. Enjoy!

Nice campground about 1 mile south of the Seneca Rocks Discovery Center on Rt 33 - Look for a small sign for Seneca Shadows campground run by the US Forest Service. You can read more: CLICK HERE

Campground looks nice I'll hit it Sun. night. The Spruce Knob ride sounds like a grate ride I'll hit the highest point in WV. On the way down I'll stop at the hightest point in Pa. Thanks.

    UPDATED

Added a nice ride report with photos of Smoke Hole and Dolly Sods submitted by Todd Brunermer of State College, PA. To view it: http://www.ridingwv.com/RidingWVBackroadsReports.htm and scroll down to either the Allegheny Mts or Eastern Panhandle sections. (I posted it in both since it overlapped 2 regions)

ALSO: Events Page is updated with upcoming events thru mid-September.

    Ride Safe! :D

Interesting looking! I'll try to add it soon - just got back from a 2-day ride (and grass-mowing) so I have lots to catch up on. Thanks!

I like the site. My family, (riders from all over the eastern U.S.) are considering a family get together ride in Beckley, WV. Some are dualsporters and some are Harley riders and one guy, my uncle, is on a Kawasaki Versys, doesn't squarely fit in either group. We would like to use Beckley as a hub and do rides each day in different directions. Any further guidance you could provide would be helpful.:lurk

I'm off tomorrow (Tuesday) so I'll sit down with my Gazatteer and draw out a few loops. I just did a route south of Beckley (Sweet 16) listed on the Street Rides Page in the Southern section. You may get a few ideas from that in the meantime.

Anyone else with suggestions, please chime in. I'm not as familiar with the SE corner of WV as I should be. Diners? Interesting destinations? Good Dual-sport rides?

When are you planning to visit?

Attempting to link to GMAPS Pedometer route map:

    http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=5730269

This is a 177-mile loop south and west of Beckley. If this link works, I'll post a few more.

EDIT: It works, but it takes a minute or two to load - please be patient.
