Glad you found the "problem", now onto the real problem. Stumble off idle.
Loosen the hose clamps on the airbox side of the carb, make sure the head side ones are tight. Now try and rotate the carb body around it's axis. If you can, your instake spigots are loose and are likely the source of an airleak. Tighten to reseal. That vintage should have a slot cut on either side of the spigot that you can insert a piece of steel into to tighten them up with.
If that's ok, take a look at your needles and needle jets since the tend to wear on each other, also affecting the metering.

Are these actual BMW cables, with the BMW name and part number stamped on them in white ink? Or are they some sort of counterfeits or clones?

I have a feeling they were clones. Ebay BMW R100 gs throttle cable left and Right.

    S&M Motor Company

19.95 each & free shipping, not worth it at all after this.

Not worth anything if they're simply wrong. Sounds like justification for negative feedback to me.

And the ironic thing is that BMW throttle cables cost about that from a reliable source. This is one reason to avoid off-brand parts from Fleabay.

S&M, eh? Classic double entendre. :eek1:lol3

If it's a reputable seller you should be able to return them for a refund. I would hope, anyway.

Those cables sound very close dimensionally to the 584/585 cables for the '88~90 GS.

    Send in the clones:

The S&M :whip fleaBay store has a lot of cool shit for old European iron (Whitworth sockets, anyone?), but my sense is that it's a savvy M/c guy that's sourced a cheap probably Asian mfr to do knock-offs for pennies. Then sell at full BMW retail.

Checked MAX on those cables and they're the same price as the clones. Plus, MAX gives you M&Ms, not S&Ms

Or he bought a cable making kit and doesn't know the differences between the various cables. There are several different free lengths for Airhead throttle cables.

Ok you know the academy awards and they always start by saying...."I would like to thank..."

Well, I would like to thank;...

    Jim Day
    Mug West

    Marriedman

....and anyone else I may have forgotten to thank....I did it, put the old cables back on, Followed Kai Ju's steps of adjustments and a few other threads here on ADV and so far....smooth like Buttah.

So thank you to everyone who helped me through this.

I would be warey of any knockoff Ebay stuff, I should have and would have done dealer or Max or someone but I recently sold some stuff and had some cash sitting in my Paypal and the transaction was really easy so I did it but lesson learned.

    Thanks everybody.
