New (to me) 690 Duke.

Not sure if this is where it should go. I've been looking for a dual sport for a long time but a 2008 690 Duke with low, low mileage came up near me for a good price so I had to snatch it up. I haven't ridden since I was a kid and am looking to take it easy for a few months until I get my wheels back under me.

Does anyone have any experience with the 690 Duke and have an idea of what I need to keep an eye out for as far as maintenance goes? I've been warned to be careful of the front brake while re-learning as it is very capable. I'm super stoked right now to start riding again.

    a 2008 KTM 690 Duke...{i have had one for 5 yrs} is not a dualsport bike...it is a purely street bike...more of a super motard.

why don't you post a picture,,then we can tell exactly what it is you bought

Hmmm, I guess I wasn't really clear. I've been looking for a dual sport for a long time. This bike, which is definitely a 690 duke but not a dual sport, came up for sale at low miles with a great price tag near me and I couldn't turn it down. Even though it's not a dual sport it seemed right to buy this now for the price and get used to riding again, and buy my dream bike in a year or two when I've re-learned how to ride. Does that make a bit more sense?

Man these sound like great bikes!

Gobs of torque and pretty low weight and compact package! Should be fun man! Better watch out, I get the feeling that that will be a wheelie machine! ahah

    Enjoy man..... :clap
