That's what our hard earned tax dollars pay for!

From my understand a trail does not need to be marked as closed, simply if its not marked open, its closed. Is that correct Tod?

According to this order it only applies to places posted as closed.

So the penalty for riding a dirt bike on the Pacific Crest Trail is the same as it was last week, but now there's less likely to be any hikers out there to report me right? Sounds like a sign.

A lot of things have been getting signed as Closed this week that didn't make sense.

A $5000 fine, imprisonment, and a criminal record- I guess the safe thing to do is just stay home and watch TV.

Is TV still legal? Is it watching me?

So time to remove my numbers and name off the graphics on my bike. Based on what I've observed around here they'd be arresting and fining most of the people I see out riding.

They're too busy checking firewood tags and hunters to even begin to worry about us around here. The motor vehicle maps that started a year ago, not one bit of enforcement. Nada, zero, zip :dunno

Just got back from riding FS 17. Didn't see a open or closed sign. Didn't see a open or closed sign on FS 18 when we went by there. But then all the wonderful
    politicians are busy saving us.

Interesting part is if you have been driving/riding around notice how many hikers there are at the closed trail heads?

Wonder if they will enforce that....

    Good (so far)

I don't recall if the 17 or 18 has gates that they could close otherwise in that neck of the woods temporary signage would be very temporary.

Not to mess with a good rant, but I think this order is to address closures for cause, such as this one last July on Manashtash Ridge.

    http://inciweb.nwcg.gov/photos/WAOW...-Fire/related_files/pict20130815-115459-0.pdf

The fines and punishments cited in the Manashtash order are the same as on the order Tod cited.

I don't have problems staying off land that is (or could be) on fire. Nor do I have a problem being ordered to stay out of the way of active fire fighters.

Only when they can figure out a way to tax it.

At that point you might need to file an IRS form ahead of time and send in a payment ahead of time based on the estimated total weight/diameter/viscosity/impact to the ozone/etc.
