Yes, the old bikes were great to ride, and hear.
The light weight made the brakes seem fine I think, and the low center of gravity made the bike feel like they handled well.

Some models were quite good if you kept after them, others had built in problems and any that vibrated a lot at the typical speed had problems from the vibration.
Metal things could crack, wires rub through, parts fall off, bulbs blow.

Found a dealer where I am headed that is going to get one in. Price OTD is $6750. If I can sell my current bike, and if the dealer is willing to hold it until I move at the end of June, I will put some money down. A lot of ifs :huh

Well, it is May and I see on the dealers website that the 2 SR400's allocated to this dealer are sold...and one of them is MINE! Should be picking it up in a couple weeks. It has been an interesting conversation regarding these over the past several months. I am just looking forward to riding an SR again...

We will be anxiously awaiting your comments on your new SR400 soon after you get it. So, is Yamaha allocating two SR's for each dealer?

I have not heard anything, and I thought June was when they were supposed to arrive...

I heard that Yamaha USA ordered 500 SR500's from Yamaha Japan and that Yamaha USA already has more than 500 orders from dealers. As to two bikes per dealer, I've talked a couple of dealers that have no plans to order any. In some parts of the US, there's just not much demand for street bikes and no interest in a bike like the SR500.

In keeping with the conservative sales outlook, one of the dealers I talked to said they sold all 5 of the FZ-09's they ordered and can't get any more this year.

Pictures show it with the evap system, so there is no reason why not...

The dealer called today and told me that my SR400 will arrive by June 3. We have agreed on the total price but I still have not decided whether to trade in
my 2007 CBR600RR. I am 61 years old and just took a 3 hour ride today with no pain. I must be using house money.

I rode my SR500 in 1979 from Maine to Salt Lake City so I have experience with the bike. I left on a Sunday so I went up through Canada because of the gas crisis in the US.

That is awesome. My quick and easy bike sale fell through (guy at work flaked, go figure) so now I have it listed on Craigslist. I am hoping everything will come together so I can go ahead and reserve an SR400.

I am not snubbing NJ-BRETT. My reply did not go through because of a security token???

With the bike so close to being at dealers I'm surprised there isn't more test rides in all the bike magazines.

I'm looking forward to some fresh reviews.

Grand Prix Motorsports in Colorado (Littleton, I think - can't tell one suburb from the next. . .) called last week and said they didn't know when they were getting theirs in just yet.

I had to tell them that I wouldn't be buying one (on account of my recent GB500 purchase), but they seem to think they will be getting at least two, for those of you interested.

+1 on this. Other than press releases, not a word about this bike. My dealer said they would call me when they get invoiced, which is about a week before delivery. So nothing yet.

Feel free to snub me all you want, call me names, whatever you like, its only the internet!

And you should hear the stuff my wife says about me!

I could not find any good reviews from other countries, its been out in Europe for a year, no?
And other parts of the world have had an sr400 with a carb I think.
