    Hi,

I'm planning to head to New Zealand sometime by half march for at least a month or two
or longer if i like it.
I've considered renting a bike but find this a bit spendy for long term, and also like to own it if i drop it, i'm thinking about just buying something with little km's on it, and than reselling again, would be nice to get some advice on what bike would be a popular bike for that once i'm done with itl? i'm thinking klr 650 so i can travel those nice gravel roads and 90 mile beach with no fuss.
I'm planning to keep things simple,
if anyone knows of dealerships that do buy back, would like to hear of it.

    Thanks,

    Iggstr

Pm me and you'll find a place to stay, food to eat and a washing mashine to stuff your sweaty thingies in. I could also join you for some parts of your ride.

Where are U from? NZ is not cheap (even thou Kiwis tend to say "cars are so cheap here!") and you might find it difficult to find low K's - low cost bikes down here. I mean I'm from Finland and we're expencive, but I sometimes find the things here ridiculously pricey.

But anyways, pm me and I'll give you my number and we'll have some coffee, ok.

    Hi Neppi, thanks man.

I just arrived in Holland in my Westfalia a few days ago, which will be home in preparation for my travels, i'm from Holland, but i was born in Bilbao, lived in Canada for some time.

I looked at some bikes in NZ on trade me just today, saw some KLR''s within my budget range, mailed a rental company as well if they could give me a discount ....just to get started.

Just talked to a guy of a mc from your country on a Victory a few days ago, seemed like a really nice chap.

I have to wait a few days just to make sure somebody is gonna be all right back home before i book a flight and leave.
So a short trip to the US is/was in the making as well, but prefer New Zealand, it looks really nice.

Thanks for your kind offer Neppi, looking forward to come on over, will pm you when my flight is booked my friend!

    Hi lggstr

I live in Kaitaia, top of North Island. Happy to catch up with you if you need anything here.

Just a note about buying and selling. I just bought a R1200GS on TradeMe. It is easy to buy something but not as easy to sell. You might find bikes get relisted for weeks until they sell. Usually travellers are under time pressure when selling and this might cost you money.

We still have a lot of gravel roads her so get a bike to match these conditions.

If you want to wet your appetite I recommend this book http://www.twistingthrottle.com/twisting-throttle-new-zealand.html

Would love to hear from you if you are here.

    Cheers

In the area early Nov with a mixed, small group of Aussies + Locals checking out some of the highlights of the Northland.
It sure is a spectacular (and thankfully !! often overlooked) part of the world.

If you are in Kerikeri on a saturday make sure to visit the Old Packhouse Market. I am a baker there selling European (mainly German) bread. I hope self-advertising is allowed here . The market is a must see with live music and heaps of food and crafts etc. Would be great to shake your hand.

    Cheers

    Sounds great.
We've only got a few days, will see how it goes.
One of the group is from Mangonui, showing us around some of his old haunts.
I'm sure Kerikeri features somewhere in this. :-)
