And then we hit the fun stuff on the Dunstan Trail. Remember this name as it tried to claim a BMW later that day.
This is Craig getting medieval for the first time ever with the new beast. And it wasn't to be the last either.

This is the Gorge. Has a wee river/stream running thru it. You cross some wee waterways that flow into the stream. A taste of things to come so it turned out. :D

And we arrived in Cromwell after riding around the old mining sites at Bendigo. Stinking hot sunny day it was too. I may have us a got a wee bit lost trying to find these particular sites but i can't say. Except, thanks Joe.
Noel. the other rider in our group trailered his bike up. My bike is protecting his cose it's bigger. His is a KTM 450 EXC. Probably just as well because his rear alloy sprocket had no teeth on it after the 3 days of riding.

likely looking characters on BMW's. Jules, Dave and Stu. All from Dunedin as well.
Jules had bad luck later on in the morning when he hit something solid and the gear lever rotated a bit far. He eventually he got into 1st gear and that was that. 1st gear only. Home time. :cry
Dave. Now here is a wee story. See the grey tape holding his non existant headlight/instruments together? And that far away look in his eyes. He found a hole in the Dunstan Trail while trying to pass someone else in the dust and went arse over kite. New helmet time and his knickers:huh and gear went everywhere when a pannier popped open.

This is the Obleisk above Clyde. Very big bit of rock in an otherwise barren dry area.

And just to prove it's barren and dry and rocky.

Then it was down the road and a loop to Lake Onslow and to Millers Flat for lunch. Venison, yum. I must admit i dropped the bike up in the hills. Doing about 1mph. Coming to a stop beside Stu on a grassy slope and the back kept on coming round to meet the front. I was laughing before the bike had hit the deck, right beside Stu and his ring side seat.

Carpark. Lunchtime. We had to ride up into the hills after lunch and the weather went all misty and wet. You couldn't even see the hills you were riding up, or the gates you were ment to go thru. Very difficult when you are following directions on a rolling route book.

Hard to see from this shot but when i left for the afternoon run some wise arse had put apricots inside my gloves.

And i fell of properly coming down a steep grassy hill. Front wheel hit a rock hiding in the wet grass and it was see ya later. Nice wee face plant. No more photos of the afternoon. But we did ride more farmland and then it was about a 1 hour tarseal ride to Gore. Soaking wet.
And this is Noel after we had done the airfilter change on our bikes.

One way to get the bike clean. Leave it out in the rain.
