I have ridden my 2015 KTM 500EXC from the bottom of New Zealand to the top and now heading to Oregon. I got it air freighted to Santiago then went across to Mendoza Argentina up the ruta 40 to Salta then back across to the top of Chile San Pedro de Atacama. Did a day trip up to 18200ft on volcano Sairecabur. Then to Bolivia via The ruta las lagunas. I went to the largest salt flats in the world Salar de Uyuni then to Deaith road just outside of La Paz. Over to Peru and checked out Machu Picchu also the Nazca lines and some great beaches. I'm now in Ecuador where the riding has been amazing and it's nice not to see rubbish everywhere. Currently the bike has 260hrs and 18800k. I have a thread in trip planning America's if you would like to see some pictures of the start of my journey. You can also follow me on Instagram. Aaronsteinmann1. Thanks hope you enjoy.

I carry a change and been doing them about ever 1500k-2000. I did them more when the bike was new. Because I carry two 1 liter oil containers and it takes 1.5 if I go further sometimes I drain half a liter top up with fresh . Only if it's the same ool.

[IMG][IMG][IMG] Well that's a brief up to date. Last couple were today in Ecuador going from Zamora to Cuenca. 100k bit of gravel and mud. Wouldn't of wanted to be on any other bike.

Subscribed. I miss my 950 but no doubt my 500 exc could do some round the world ride.

Thanks! And it has become mine. I think it will turn into a ornament. Don't think I could sell it after this trip.

Rode from Cuenca to Montanita(Ecuador ) today over a 4000m pass through the national park. Longish day and could of done without the headwind in the last couple hours but some great views and nice to be at the beach.

Found a car wash place with a power washer on the way out of town this morning so the old girl got a bath.

Where are you now? Interested to know what mods you did to the 500 pre-trip. Anything you would have done different in hindsight? Safe travels.

I'm in Montanita Ecuador heading north today. I am going to hop between some beach towns up the coast this week. Bike is basically stock. Changed the seat to seat concepts. Tank. bars and Stealth sprocket with better chain. USB charger which is a must. A steering head stabilizer would be the nice but I decided to put that money towards gas. They aren't cheap in N.Z. And it was getting to the point of wants and needs.

After ending up in Canoa with the weather warm but cloudy and windy I decided to head inland as it wasn't great beach weather. After a 500k day I ended up in Banos and got treated to this view. Tungurahua volcano. Apparently one of South America's most active. 5023m high.[IMG] One of those days where the k's came easy. It was supposed to be raining that afternoon but I had mostly sun all the way.[IMG]
