I appreciate the continued feedback. $9000 for the 2011 F600GS is out the door. Even at $9,900 for a 2013 F700GS I'll be looking at another grand in tax plus fees, documentation and destination charges. In addition, I'll still want to get some panniers and probably upgrade the seat.
Not to open up another can of worms, I'm starting to think about the Triumph Tiger 800 or 800 XC.

Watch some video comparisons between the Tiger 800 and the F800GS... It only reinforced the purchase of my F800.

I have appreciated all the input. This is a really friendly forum. I decided to cool my jets for a while, take a couple of motorcycle safety courses and perhaps the rawhide adventure course then consider buying an F 800 GS.
A big shout out to Eric at Sandia BMW. He seems like he would be really easy to work with. If anyone is interested in an F 650 GS check out the one at Sandia BMW in Albuquerque New Mexico. You can tell him Mark recommended him. That may give me some leverage when I make a deal a few months from now.

Let us know when you make your purchase. I don't think you will be disappointed with any bike.
