Saw two guys on KLR's today near Grey Mountain on 89 and the just ahead of three guys , a KLR a Kawi dirt bike and a dr or WR waiting for then at a pull out. All where slowing up traffic horribly... but I didn't mind.

We loved the rocky section near Long Lake. Everyone thought it was a blast. That was the 3rd time thru it in the past several years for a few of us. I thought the rocks lasted longer this time and a few places seemed to have gotten worse. We were on 690/701 and smaller bikes.

AZBDR complete. Great tracks and weather the last week. Rode it both ways covering all the open sections, alternates and some other roads to keep it interesting. 1455 miles in all.

When did you last ride to Cape Solitude? I'm pretty sure that trail has been closed to vehicles for some time and requires permits to hike it.

Made it to Globe from Sierra Vista. If you go about 8 miles in to empire ranch. You'll see it gated off. You should get on the easy alternative which takes you to 83 and follow that to you meet up to the original track that takes you I-10. That way, you aren't doing highway the entire section.
Also, pioneer pass is still closed. It's all open as you climb and then once you get to Tonto forest the road closed signs are up.
Also adding that I'm planning on taking Cherry Creek so if any riders are in Globe please join in since I'll be by myself. Do have the alt route in case I change my mind. I'll be on a DR650. Hope to post again this evening about it.

Made it! But it was tough for me. One of the areas has a steep drop with the corrugated pipe exposed. Tried to power through and didn't make it. Took a good spill but bike and myself were okay. Then more 1st and maybe 2nd gear travel and got to that bad part. I first tried crawling and the bike just spun so after backing up and dropping it in the run off. I took everything off and went again with more speed. That did the trick and then went on the narrow side to the left to make it. Took a lot but glad I did it. And thankful to those before me. Also. If you see a tool tube along Cherry Creek that's mine that fell off from bouncing all over the freaking place. It's somewhere between the start of the run offs and when I dropped the bike the first time. Thanks

Yeah. It was when I went on. I stayed in Winslow last night and went back down to start this morning. Long day. In Cameron now.

Regarding the Pioneer Pass closure, is it possible to take the pass road up and then cut east at some point to 77, or should I just stay on 77 from Winkleman?

If the pass isn't open I think you need to stay on 77. I don't recall any way to cut back. Surprised it's not open now though.

I figured. There is a road, looking on Google maps, but it looks like it runs through someone's property.

You can go around Pinal Peak on the west side of the mountain if you would prefer dirt to slab. It's really pretty out there and adds a little more distance. You can pop out in Globe or Miami.

Oh, and Red Cloud Road was not closed due to the fire :)

We are camping tonight at Colcord Ridge Campground north of Young. Some folks were talking about a fire and the 300 Rim Road being closed. Can anyone confirm or deny that? If it's closed I suppose we'll go through Payson, up to Clints Wells then rejoin the BDR up there.

Yes. There seems to be a fire north of Payson, and currently below the rim. It looks like they are expecting it could be pushed north, which could affect the Rim Rd.

Here is the current closure info:

    https://inciweb.nwcg.gov/incident/article/5233/35584/

It appears the Rim Rd 300 is currently unaffected. Good luck.

Several of us tried to ride east on the Rim Road (Fr300) from Az87 yesterday. We were stopped and turned back at Fr95 by a fire crew. Dunno if that still applies today but we were there and it actually happened yesterday. Unfortunately I didn't take any pix ... but it really did happen!

Well..I believe you.. thats about as good an update as you can get.. did you reach the turn off for any of the lakes up there? If you did then they could use the roads further away from the Rim road to get through there..
