I'm up for scouting. Anything south of Mammoth down through Cal City is my weekly playground.

    This is great.

Eaks, please let me know if I can help.

I'm sure there are more if we can get those locked gates open.

    It's always point to point.
Some just reverse it and experience it in reverse. Others have created return loops.

We started this idea with legislation in California well over 40 years ago. It started as the Statewide Motorized Trail System (SMTS), then OHV Commission changed it to the Back Country Discovery Routes.

    See full history on http://www.smts.info/

The system has North/South routes 1 (Coast range) , 3 (West side Sierras), 5 (East side Sierras), 7 (West Mojave), & 9 (East Mojave) and East/West Routes 2 (Mojave Raod), 4, 6, & 8 (Along Oregon Border). Just like the National Interstate Highway System.

Oregon copied our same numbering system probably in the 80's. They have long Rts 3 & 5 plus 2 & 4 connectors.

Full GPS Tracks of both systems are available now on http://www.gpsxchange.com/ in Private Libraries.

Once completed it may be possible to combine the CABDR East with the southern half of the NVBDR to create a near loop for one epic ride.

That is the whole point of a System vs a linear trail. There are plenty of linear ones, Pacific Crest Quest, Great Western Trail, and the Continental Divide Ride plus al the BDRs. If you want a really big loop, combine any two of these with the "Northern Route" and the "Southern Route".

If you want a reasonable loop of any size for any amount of days, just combine your choice of gas to gas Track segments from the California, Oregon, Nevada, Idaho, Utah, and Arizona/New Mexico Statewide Motorized Trail Systems.

An example are the many multi-day loops I pulled together at: http://advrider.com/index.php?threads/northeren-nevada-multi-day-rides.1263080/#post-33520753
