I appreciate the offer, and we might end up taking you up on it, but it looks like your a little out of the way for us. We were planning on riding to Telluride from Glenwood Springs, then north on the BDR to Steamboat. It would however make for a shorter trip back to the truck from Steamboat though. Can you send your address or coordinates and contact info, just in case?

I would suggest calling the police department in Glenwood Springs. I was looking for somewhere to park a truck and trailer for 4-6 weeks in Trinidad next month. I called the police and they gave me the number for the Sherrif's office. They were very nice and told me they let people park there all the time. The office is staffed 24/7 so no need to worry about our rig while we're on the trail.

That's a good idea also. I tried some of the local storage facilities, but none them seemed to have outdoor parking available.

Our plan is to arrive in Glenwood Springs the evening of August 25, ride to Telluride on the 26th, and ride the COBDR from Telluride to Steamboat Springs, one section per day.

Will probably see you on the journey. We are doing North to South and both of us on KLR's, during the same time frame. Hopefully very little rain!
    Ride safe!!!

    Hi All,

I am going to start the route on Thursday Morning from Dolores.

First day: Dolores to Crested Butte/Taylor Park

Second day: CB to Steam Boat. Will ride Tin Cup Pass to BV, and then onwards.

Would consider skipping that part because I would have to back track. Has any one been over Pearl Pass from CB? Is there to much snow still? It would be cool to do Pearl Pass to Aspen to Hagermans Pass.

Third day. SB to Laramie Wy. There is a pass North and East out of town and then a series of dirt roads to Jelm. After Jelm will ride HYW 230 to Laramie.

This is all weather dependent. If it gets nasty with rain then will make it a shorter day.

    Thanks,
    Aaron

May see you on the trail. 3 of us will be starting the BDR at Lake City on the 27th South to North. I am hoping the heavy rains don't slow us down.

Does anyone have a COBDR map in the Boulder/Lafayette/North Denver area? I am out and did not know it. I have a customer coming this morning expecting one .

We have a small group doing some of the lower parts of the BDR and Moab this year. Anyone know of a place near Gypsum to park a Jeep and small trailer?

    Ride a 690 enduro r.

Day 1: Cortez to Crested Butte. Rode the COBDR route to Taylor park and then the paved road to CB. Was like 330-350miles or something. Was awesome. I think it was raining on every pass I went over. Only thing I wished I had has heated grips...but that was at then end of day 1.

Day 2: went on a "hike" with my brother up Mnt CB.

Day 3: CB to Steam Boat. Fun ride. Tin Cup pass is the best. Lots of rocks and stuff. Also there is lots of windy roads between Gypsum and Steam Boat. The dirt was amazing with the rain.

Bike worked great the whole time. No issues. My suspention was dialed so I really never slowed down.

Used the GPS track off this thread. Only Changed Cotten wood Pass for tincup.

We made it to the store last Thursday - said hi to your wife, chatted up some locals and had a snack. Store looks nice!

Got a group of 10 pulling into the house tonight to get their rigs and head home. North to south then I gave them a route back north over the highland and Baxter Pass, Bench road.

Heading out 9/2 from the south to north on the COBDR. It says on their website that the route on Section 3 is closed due to some paving on Cottonwood Pass. Does anyone know if it is still closed? Says to go from Waunita Springs to Salida and then up to Buena Vista. I found a route that goes from Pitkin to Buena Vista through Alpine. Would that route work instead of through Salida? That is of course if Cottonwood Pass is still closed.
