Closed all of 2017 and 2018. Follow the directions on the website unless you have a smaller Adv bike or are an expert rider on a large Adv bike.

A heck, just go over Tomichi to Hancock Pass. What could go wrong?

Taking a buddy to do the COBDR next week. He wants to add on Black Bear Pass but at first glance it appears we'd have to do Ophir twice (which isn't a problem) as we circle back into Telluride. I may be reading the map incorrectly.

You could do Imogene for a different leg back to Ouray/550.

Yep still would work. Take Ophir to 550, turn left to Blackbear back to Telluride then take Imogene over to 550, comes out just south of Ouray, turn south to Ironton where the road heads over Corkscrew. No backtracking, be all epic stuff.

Does anyone have GPS tracks in reverse going N-S? I plan to go from Gypsum to Telluride prior to the KTM Rally next month. Im fine with the butler map but it would be nice to have the tracks.

It's my understanding that the BDR tracks are non-directional.

I downloaded the tracks from Butlers website onto my phone and used Osmand on my Galaxy 5 phone and rode it North to South. Just follow the line!

Two of us are leaving Steamboat Springs on 9/5 heading south on the COBDR. We'll do the Cottonwood bypass shown on the website. Confirmed Cottonwood is closed until summer '19. We're going to add a Black Bear/Imogene loop too and will peel out at Dolores to Three Step Hideaway for extract on 9/10. We'll be on a yellow DRZ and a CRF450. Hope to see you guys on the trail.

    Bucket list item!
Thanks for the loop idea, 83 miles, can it be done in a day?
A lot still has to come together such as finishing the airbags on my new Tacoma but if it does then I'll be coming from SLC with my 500excf and tempting fate this weekend.
Hope to see you out there.

Yes - I've built a strawman plan similar to this to spend a day in this area spinning up and down the vertical. Then to resume the COBDR.

Currently on the COBDR North to South. Have met several riders so far most all going South to North.
Stayed nite #1 at Lynx pass perfect weather and great scenery.
Nite #2 was just outside of Leadville on Weston Pass headed to Bunea Vista.
Hit some rain yesterday and it slowed us down a bit but we adapted and jumped on over on Old Monarch pass for a 3d night.
All is good so far! Was a lil let down when we rerouted back up to TinCup to eat and Frenchies was closed. Rggggh! Supposivly a death in the family. God Bless!
First hotel is tonight as baby wipes just aren't getting the job done anymore!
I'd say that so far the hardest section was the RUTs just outside of Gypsum before the Sylvan lake (?) area.
Met a guy going North that lives about 30 min from me in Arkansas. Small world...
    Ride safe!!

Still on the COBDR. Left Gunnison rode to Lake City. Awesome mixture of terrain from desert like to some agriculture, Cattle ranches, etc...!
Stopped and partially topped off with fuel in Lake City along with some beer and grub for the camping spot. We rode all the passes with minimal difficulty. However, it took me two attempts at one of the switchbacks
on California pass. Ran into about a dozen forrest rangers. Chatted with them a bit. Never once did they look for that permit thing I bought. Good money that hopefully goes to something good for us ADV riders and others!
We rode all the passes and spent last nite near the base of Cork Screw pass. Good times. Currently off the COBDR eating lunch in Silverton then on to Telluride. Somewhat a day of Leisure.
Two Arkansans on KLR's loaded down!!!

Eddy , Thanks for he offer. We are stopping the COBDR just outside of Telluride and re routing us on gravel back up through Ouray then other FS roads till we reach phantom canyon road to cripple creek ! Then on home to Arkansas. Imogene pass was a beast today with the down poors OF RAIN.
So far we have had perfect weather up until Telluride.
    Ride safe!!
**Also thanks to JT, some guy in a Toyota that helped me pick up the KLR when I took a slow nap thing couldn't get my feet to touch. Imogene was horrblle from the rain!

Phantom Canyon is a fun little jaunt, while it won't compare to where you've been already scenery wise, it's still well worth it.

JT is my neighbor in Ridgway. I will pass along the thanks!!
And no doubt Imogene was a beast on loaded bikes. Pretty spicy normally, but this year it has been particularly loose with all the rain.
Hope you had an awesome trip!
