Why would the commish "step in" if the 9ers signed Reed? :scratch

IMO We don't need Reed we need a big hard hitting safety. :deal

Nah, you need safetys with football smarts and experience. Your guys got caught out missing coverage, or having both guys on the same reciever and letting another one go open, stuff like that. It didn't seem to me that their problem was they didn't hit hard enough. Reed has got another year or two of value pluse he'd be a great mentor. You don't find defensive backs much smarter than him.
    Just my opinion of course.

NFC West housing 2 serious contenders.......and I'm liking the Chickenhawks more than SF to win the division. My beloved Cardinals sure as hell won't be.:cry

    Brothers in cahoots.

Reeds going to Houston and SF is looking at Asomugha. Seattle just signed Micheal Bennet from Tampa so Carroll's either stockpiling DE's due to Irvins horrible play during the playoffs or Clemons is gone. Hate to see them get rid of Clemons, but a torn ACL and his age may make it a must.

IMO - Having someone who causes a crossing receiver to flinch because he's going to get hit is what we had in Goldson and what we need to replace. I certainly agree that we could use another more physical corner but an athletic and physical SS would be my first DB desire. :deal

But Reed is a free agent so John has no say as to where he goes. :nah

I'm reading that both Woodson and Asomugha are talking to the 9ers. We'll see if anything comes of those visits and talks. :dunno

Those days are over. Hard hits on crossing receivers are nothing but 15 yard penalties and fines these days.

I was surprised to see Emery/Trestman let Roach go.

    Urlacher will be interesting.

I hear the phrase 'Tuck Rule' and I immediately go into a Tourette's fit.

Off-season has been really interesting this year. Is every year like this, and I've just forgotten? Or is this free agency period unusually chaotic?

Welker's agents overrated his worth, and when they realized that they weren't going to get the big money, it was too late. Pats owner/team stayed within their guidelines. I wish they could have kept him one more year, but We'll see how Amendola does. I think the Pats are done talking about it.

Well, they were operating under prior assumptions, not the new modelling in the NFL. At least he got paid, Elvis has plenty of reason to be hot. I liked Kraft's answer. Tom Brady is an important part of this team, but I don't answer to him. (I'm the boss around here you mindless media twits.)

I think more than a few free agents overshot their worth and didn't get what they were asking for. These days when you have a really good quarterback you gotta pay major money and then find a way to pay the rest of the team with guys expecting top dollar.

There's some teams spending big bucks to make a run for the Superbowl but its teams like the patriots that usually are the ones that get close.
