Hello folks. I'm hoping some of the ADV'ers living in and around Nicaragua can help me.

My church is beginning to work with some small churches in Nicaragua (I'm not sure where). I've heard that the pastor at one of the churches needs a motorcycle to reach many of the neighboring villages. I'm trying to get an idea what motorcycles are available for sale in Nicaragua, and how much? I assume we're talking about a small displacement moto.

Can someone recommend a reliable model, and estimated cost either new or used?

    Thanks,
    Mike

Actually I already checked Craigslist. I know it's a small country, but I'm assuming there's more than those 7 bikes for sale.

    Thanks for your input.

for commuting to smaller villages, you won't need more than what the locals ride just about everywhere: a cheapo 125 or 150cc.

there are tons. your cheapest option will be chinese made 125cc or similar. you can get a yamaha 125 for around 1400 new. used bikes literally litter the market, but i wouldn't bother since they are not maintained well.
you can also check www.encuentra24.com and select nicaragua as the country of course.

Anything bigger than a 125cc goes at a premium. I just bought a 2011 Yamaha YBR125G with 7k km for $1400, it's a semi dual sport but has served me well so far. They go for 2k new, but as a nonresident it's easier for me to buy used. Found it on encuentra24, great website. I'm in the San Juan del Sur/Rivas area, if you find something in this part of the country ill be happy to take a look at it for you.
