From Mid Ohio last year. Cool looking bike.
Very nice bike, and cool wife. Did your wife grow up in Denmark, or was her parents from here? I bet she's a feisty one.. Most Danish women are. Don't piss them off, you WILL regret it!
Nice bike.. I especially like the sidecar with a big old-school suitcase strapped to it
My wife must be part Danish...
I saw one for sale at VMD this past weekend. It had a sidecar was blue. Didn't get a pic my battery ran out.
The valve adjustment looks pretty easy.
It was there agin this year. His swap spot is at the end of our row. He cruised by us a couple times on it. Pretty cool.
The following link is to the website of a couple of guys from Norway doing an epic RTW tour on 1937 Nombus sidecar rigs. I believe they are currently in Siberia.
thanks for posting everybody, very nice
This one is at Kerstings Cycle Museum, in Indiana
Beautiful bike, I'm surprised nobody mentioned the great Ariel Square Four behind and to the left of it.
I've seen Nimbus's (Nimbi?) in Denmark several times when I visited Copenhagen. Many of them were outfitted as a commercial vehicle with a large shelf wagen instead of the front wheel for carrying or delivering goods in the city.
Always wondered how they managed to keep dirt out of the oil with the open valve springs and how a basically strap metal frame held up.
But cool old bikes just the same, with a unique exhaust note.
I want one now, and I'd never even heard of them 10 minutes ago.
The Nimbus frames were built from purpose-made super strong flat steel. Nimbus bikes were built by a company (Fisker & Nielsen) whose main product line was vacuum cleaners (Nilfisk). Nimbus bikes were used bu the Danish army (which did not really participate in WWII as Denmark was occupied in a matter of hours in April 1940), police and postal service from the 30's until the 60's. Production ended around 1960. There are quite a few still on the road here in Denmark. Most parts are still available NOS, reproduced or improved.
No posts for nearly 4 years? Any Nimbus owners out there? I've just bought one from Denmark.
Here are some images I took a few years ago. I rode my BSA to a marine gear swap meet in my town and saw this. The guy used to own an old BSA so we talked shop and then offered to start it up. It was really cool to see the valves moving! I took the photos with a cell phone that had some filter enabled, thus the slightly funky colors.

I saw them and their bikes a couple of years ago, they wound up in Brooklyn, and were hosted at Bar Matchless in Williamsburg. Gave a little show of their trip to that point.
Who wouldn't love to roll on a Nimbus. The look really grows on you.
[FONT=Verdana, Helvetica, Arial]We captured some up-close video of a Nimbus firing up at Mid-Ohio; very cool. You can see the footage at the beginning of this vid:
