Come ride the AMA/NATC national at Sipapu NM (near Taos) at 8K-10K feet elevation. It has been nice and cool in the mountains with occaisional rain and the views and terrain are spectacular. In 2007, the national at Sipapu was voted best national, and this one will not disappoint either. The Sipapu chairlift will be running, there will be a band on the patio at the bar/grill Saturday night, what more could a trials rider ask for? NMTA had a two day event at Taos Ski Valley (site of the best national in 2001) yesterday and today and we had more riders turn out for it than are presently signed up for the national...what's up?:ear

Signup for the NM national closes Friday night (July 19th), so get to it! Go here to sign up now! :deal We look forward to seeing you there! :clap

No increase as of tonight...39 riders and 11 minders is pathetic! :cry In 2007, we had a low turn out of 80+/- because it was the last event of the year. Hope it turns around soon!

Bob, you missed some interesting discussion around what we should do. I will be checking the count nightly.:deal

Thought I just said to let NMTA To ride ride lowers! I mean we only have 3 new mexico riders this year. Time to cut the Sr riders to two age groups!

I imagine that the news that makes it sound like NM is burning down hasn't helped one bit.

The news that we have been getting almost daily showers and the whole state is greening up beautifully doesn't make the evening news.

:dunno. It might be that people cancelled their plans when all the fires were raging.
What was the a turnout at the two eastern events? We only had three NM riders at those, right?

I would promote the hell out of lower classes and try to get some RMTA riders or AZ riders to ride. The "serious" riders have already spoken.

Not sure how we can promote to RMTA or the CAT groups...if you know how, go for it! The Vermont and NY rounds had about 90 each day. This could be the death knell of the national series in the west. RMTA may do one next year, but who else is there? :ear This will be my last one as organizer, though I am proud of how everybody is stepping up to help out. :clap

Wow. Minnesota has only 5 signed up so far! Used to register a month early. Economy and the nationals both stink together. Must be politically correct and blame it on the last guy in office! Ha, Ha, good thing we all like our NMTA guy!

It might be time to split the nationals up. East/ west with a three day shoot out final?

Actually, that might help as it would eliminate having to use a clock and a whistle as we do now. When NATC events are so different from our club events, it makes it difficult to accomplish. With clock/whistle, we need 3 checkers per section, at club events we sometimes only use/need one.

Each NATC whistle is unique to the section number, so you cannot use your own. Each section goes up a note on the scale until you reach the shrieking little girl note. Then it starts over with the manly bass tones.:roflHere's hoping you have one of the manly whistles....:freaky
