or Why You Shouldn't Take Stupid Chances When Riding Alone The day started out nice enough, with beautiful sunny skies. Here's a view of Table Rock from a distance. Well the choice to turn around was easy here. Then off to some of the less maintained forest roads. Over the top of the mtn it becomes graded down the other side, but it doesn't appear to be too big of a priority, does it? We actually had some real high winds up here last Monday. Well I decide to have a closer look and what do ya know, it looks like somebody made it around on a bike! Lets see here.. ...all I have to do is slide down under this tree and then pop out on the other side. I'd be going in the opposite direction as the trail blazer....but it looks like the easier way to me. Well I'm comitted to it now! I stalled the motor Well here goes it with no run....afterall it's not too high just a bit steep. But the HEAVY old DR is wearing a set of 270s that have OVER 3,000 miles on them, including a trip to the Scrub and Kamp Kraut last month. The terrain turns out to be rock covered in mossy loam and that worn Kenda just spins. Well I can't push it up the hill so I turn around and try a couple of more times. But it's slick and uneven all along the approach and I just can't seem to get a run at it. A new line gets me close with the front tire at the road and the rear spinning.....I decide to lay it down and see if I can drag it up on it's side.....now I need to lay down and rest. Well after eating and drinking and letting my heart rate descend from space I repeat the process till victory is at last mine! Thank God! A little bit dirtier bu no worse for the wear. This is where I entered the Parkway:huh Then it's off to Blowing Rock for a well deserved/ earned sammich! I aint done yet.....that's just the AM adventure!
