    Hi!

Maintaining your bike's center of gravity as low as possible is a crucial part of packing your luggage. You can read a post on the topic on our blog.

We have launched a new product to help you achieve it.

The "Mini Adv Box" is a handy container that can be mounted underneath all Nomada panniers. It's great for carrying tools, first aid kit or a fuel canister.

A top seal protects the bottom of the pannier from any damage.

It comes in 6 sizes. Check it out here:

Wondering if guys have plans to release a clear anodized cases? Im finding it a bit cumbersome that while spec'n out the Nomada cases Im trying to get quotes from local shops for anodizing. Is there a reason clear anodized isnt an option?

    Hi Otherworld

We think that instead of anodizing it’s better to make the pannier from polished aluminium. Even if it gets scratched it will not be as noticeable.

We aren't fans of anodized panniers. They are difficult to repair because the layer has to be removed before welding. (If there is such a need after a crash which damages the joints). They also get scratched very easily and as you know Enduro riders don’t always use the highways :)

Waht is your take on the matter?

Hmmmm.... wasnt aware of the welding issues and had actually thought anodizing would provide better scratch protection -thank you for the clarification. Really, after better protection from oxidization. So are the coloured panniers (white, black, grey) then powder coated? If so, do the same welding issues arise, or is it simply a matter of sanding off the coating to perform the repair?

    Hi

Our panniers are powder painted with a very scratch resistant structural paint.

    Answering your questions:

Anodizing is an expensive process and can also lead to weakening the pannier.

The pannier wall is 2mm thick. Anodizing reduces the width and powder painting increases it. If the anodized pannier gets scratched the whole surface has to polished which further decreases the thickness of the pannier wall. After that the pannier can be anodized which again takes off the thickness.

With powder painted panniers even if the surface gets scratched:
    a) It can be painted partially with corrector paint
    b) if the scratch does not have sharp edges it doesn't have to be polished
    c) repainting is much cheaper than anodizing

If the pannier gets smashed and needs welding in the case of anodized panniers the area of the welding will change color. With painting this doesn't matter.

I hope we could help with the explanation.
