Good to meet everybody today (and those of you we saw on the road because you couldn't get up early enough. :lol3)

Rouse Ridge is a good, total noob, small bike ride ( for the true total noob :deal like me) There is sand, hardpack, some tight turns and pretty yucky ruts where 4 wds drove through when the road was muddy- more than enough to keep me well occupied. One dump, on my ribs again, ouch....

Next ride we'll divide in 2 groups:

    1 true noobs
2 people who think they're noobs, but aren't + non- noobs.

Group 2 had to do a lot of waiting for the rest of us so nobody did Toro Peak.

So, who's up for Santiago Peak, date to be determined?

Thanks again Little Bike for putting this together!! :clap The ride was great - a little more technically than what I expected, but all's well that ends well and I'm really glad that I went.

I, too had an unscheduled get-off, but only my pride was hurt (along with a few scrape marks on my crash bars). Thanks to the guys for helping me get the bike back up.

I'm probably in for the next n00b ride, depending on the date.

    Cheers

Glad you guys had a good ride. Sorry about your spill! I'm up for Santiago Peak. I can probably have a buddy with a street legal XR600 come along, too. He knows those trails pretty well. I'll be on my Super Tenere and it's all set up for the dirty stuff :)

Rain...they might close down the gates to the trails leading in and around Santiago peak this weekend. Have to watch what the rangers do later this week.

Who rides XRs these days? :puke1

I went up yesterday, and the Silverado gate was locked. Provided they reopen it later in the week, the dirt should be awesome on Sunday. Ride up and over to Tom's Farms? If the ST can make it, just about anything can.

I went up bedford on Sat and it was open. Went to four corners and the gate down to maple springs was locked. A hiker said the gate below was also locked due to the fire danger. The gate up to santiago at four corners was also open. Who knows why those gates and not the others...I don't think the forest people know why they do things either.

    Thanks
I had a link for another page, but it wasn't up to date. hmmm, north main divide is closed. Hope it opens again once everything dries up. I'm worried that the national forests are going to get closed again this year because of our lack of rainfall. Ride it while we can!

Noob or not, we should stick together. It's tough to get lost on this trail, but we should all stick together in case someone wads up. Also, there's a rocky section coming into Corona that can get tricky. Might be nice to have somebody help spotting or "coaching" newer riders.

It would be cool if we could get one or two sacrificial "I'll ride with the noobs" person who is experienced. Last ride the group got separated because of skill level so the first group had to do a lot of waiting and didn't get to ride as much as they'd like. I don't want to hold people back, but that is a very good point. So, anybody want to volunteer to hang with the noobs?
