Two guys from our little Bend area dirt bike Facebook page gone in a matter of days. No words, certainly thinking of the families and taking long hugs with my loved ones.

In light of the news, as Jimmy was a brother to many in the PNW, I am putting a donation together to be given to the family.<?xml:namespace prefix = "o" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />

Jimmy was a "grab life by the handlebars" guy, and his spark will be sorely missed by all those who were touched its glow. Prayers and blessing to Jimmy's family.

This is Jimmy's wife, Dawna. Jimmy died doing what he loved in the place that he loved. He will be forever missed.

Thank you for all of the kind words, they mean the world to me.

Dawna

RIP Jimmy, always a friendly hand-you-a-beer kinda guy the several times we were acquainted. Genuine likeable man.

Strangely enough, one of Jimmy's good friends Aaron Beatty passed just a few days prior. I doubt Jimmy even heard of it.

Two moto brothers in the same week. It's just devastating. I hope you two are braaaping together in heaven.

John Volkman (#13) got punted off his Husaberg 10 miles north of San Juanico-

5. Behavior
5.1. Contact between vehicles including nerfing, bumping and pushing, intentional or accidental, is strictly prohibited in NORRA and is subject to penalties from 4 hours up to disqualification and/or suspension.

So let's get this straight: Butch Jenson's 4500 lb. (#462) "Alumi Craft Grande" powered by a 600HP REDLINE PERFOMANCE LS7 motor "nerfs" John Volkman off his Husaberg FE 570 from 5th gear to dirt and gets:

Wait for it....

ONLY THE MINIMUM POSSIBLE PENALTY????

Putting this into perspective:
A 254lb bike gets punted by a 4500 LB pre-runner producing a minimum 600HP motor. This is clearly a recklessness display of unsafe behavior. But the organizer gives the minimum possible penalty and allows the vehicle and its drivers to continue in the rally?

Volkman and his team have followed protocol and filed a timely incident report.

Will NORRA do the right thing….We will know in approximately 30 minutes from now

NORRA did the right thing... Butch Jensen is DQ'd from the rally for hitting a fellow competitor on the course. Good job NORRA officials!

^^^^^ You know, the "Psychology of Horsepower" makes many people do dumb shit. I see it all the time in BAJA before and during races when rich punks and poor souls rev their engines up, blitz through towns at speed and think they are heros. No, they are F-KING zeros.

Half the people who come south to BAJA have absolutely no business doing so. They don't learn the culture and are frowned upon with pity.

Being a forty+ year veteran of BAJA this is a extremely valid and true statement......

Jimmy's was a single vehicle incident. He hit a concrete culvert crossing a "vado" washout. It was a "step-up" / ditch, one of several in that area.
