I'd rather die choking on my own dick than ride a KTM. Love ya tho Scott!
Very nicely done!
The reminder to turn off your gopro at the end about made me fall out of my chair
Great Video !!
Awesome Sauce! Sorry I missed it this year.
Awesome video, looks like a real fun run
I know Scotty's Baja Rally is attracting a lot of the attention of the ADV crowd, and the Score 1000 isn't that far off, but I'm surprised at the lack of entries for the NORRA Mexican 500 (starting this weekend).
It seems to have been poorly advertised, but the GPS tracks have now been posted to the NORRA site and it looks to be a really fun route:
Day 1 - Ensenada to Mexicali
Day 2 - Mexicali to San Felipe
Day 3 - San Felipe to Ensenada
NORRA has worked hard so that the cars and bikes are separated much more this time around (and actually only share parts of the same routes on Days 1 and 3).
This is their first effort at a fall race, so maybe it will take off over the next few years similar to the Mexican 1000. NORRA puts on great events!
i just reviewed the norra 500 tracks.
they are damned good. lots of those are new to me.
is it friday yet? i'll be heading out about noon and will see most of you guys at hotel san nicholas.
it's great living in socal, we're close enough that we can check them out this coming xmas holiday.
I really do live on the wrong side of the country. I like the idea of the NORRA 500 with the circular route, certainly does aid in the logistics. Probably one I would enter if I lived close.
Do they allow modern bikes in this one like in the 1000? Or is this one purely a vintage race?
Basically same format as the Mexican 1000. All bikes (and cars/buggies/trucks) allowed but catering to vintage. I'm running my Berg again. Leaving this morning for Ensenada. Tech inspection tomorrow. Racing starts Saturday.
This one is definitely easier logistically...
NORRA has stepped up their game on the safety front for the Mexican 500 and will continue the efforts for the Mexican 1000.
One of the goals is to make sure bikes and cars are not on the same piece of track at the same time. We have alternate routes and schedules for bikes and cars on day 1. On days 2 & 3 we will have suitable time gaps to maintain a separation.
Another thing we are doing is providing Spot Gen3 live trackers for all competitors, bikes and cars, at no extra charge. You can check out our live tracking links below.
We also will have weatherman on the air with two mountain top relays designed to cover the entire 3 day route system. We will be on 151.625 MHz. Would not be a bad idea to carry a small handheld VHF radio with you.
Rally Navigator software has been a big help in preparing our road books. We are using the Pro version and will be providing roll charts to those who can use them, again at no extra cost. Yet another reason to go ahead and invest in some good nav equipment. For next year, I hope we can adjust the event schedules so there is some time between our Mexican 500 and the Baja de Motos event (which sounds like an awesome event BTW) so those who would like to run both can have some time to prep between events.

Not only did it help you, it also made it possible for me to extricate myself from that painful job for NORRA. Rally Navigator makes it a LOT easier for race organizers and fun ride organizers to make professional looking accurate roadbooks, which will boost the sport of cross-country rally worldwide. Congratulations to Mike Shirley (RenoMoto) for creating such a cool tool!
pretty cool. i'm already liking it.....
awesome job. friends and family members can use that and feel like being there.
congrats to the top 3 finishers of norra mex500 (bikes) - larry (3rd), chivo (1st) and tibe (3rd)
we had a great time.
larry should have lots of pics to post.....
I'm only in the movie twice? WTH???
what is the date for the 2014 NORRA 1000
Not set yet, they will wait until they get all of the hotels lined up first.
So who is in for the 1000?
Lets hope they don't get to close to this rally!!!
I want to do both !!
