North Alabama riders. I know you are out there. I keep seeing you on this forum, on other forums and out on the road. I think it's time to start a thread just for us. Please introduce yourselves and use this thread to talk about anything motorcycle related. If you know of any upcoming rides or events please post the information or a link here.

Thanks for checking in. You are pretty much half way between North and South Alabama and certainly not too far to do some rides up here. Many of us also take trips to N. GA and NC if you are interested in that. BTW, what kind of riding are you interested in?

Let me introduce myself to those of you who I haven't met. When I joined ADV back in 2008 I lived in GA. I was pretty active on this forum from there. Then in 2013 I moved to Huntsville, AL after commuting here for work for a few years. I love living and riding here. I still take trips to the Mountains of N. GA, TN, and NC and occasionally other states as well. I mostly ride on the street but also do some dual sport riding. When I first came to Huntsville I started a thread in Day trippin to document my riding here. I have ended up using it for all but my really long rides. It's really long but if you're interested here's the link: http://advrider.com/index.php?threads/full-throttle-touring-150-through-the-rocket-city.647784/

A pic of me riding through Deal's Gap earlier this year:

Very nice, I ride just about every kind of terrain. Just picked up a new Strom 1000 so mostly adventure type riding and street has my interest. I get to the N GA mountains often as possible. The wife and I were there this past weekend and made it up to Highlands even. Usually go to the dragon couple of times a year as well and ride the area. If I didn't have to work for a living I would ride much more. :D I've tried to no avail to find adventure riders locally and they seem to be few and far between other than a couple of friends who are riding D.S bikes. Pretty much gave up. I thought I would start keeping tabs on the regional forum, and just see what all pops up. Soon as work slows down I plan to get the Smokey Mountains 500 rode one long weekend too. Are you familiar with that? We do go to Cheaha quite regularly too. I need to get up to N. AL and check out the riding. What's that place that has the restaurant and people sit outside at like a base of a mountain? Can't remember to save my life. Anyway, always a good excuse for a ride is good food and new scenery. haha

I haven't made it to the rattlesnake saloon yet but have ridden LRC a few times. There is a lot of very good riding here in the Northeast part of Alabama. It's not as good as N. GA and NC but a lot closer and plenty of fun. Here's a fun road I found on Monday returning from Deal's Gap:

That road looks like a lot of fun. Nice klr. I have a 12 model I am about to put up for sale since either bought the Strom. Gonna miss it I'm afraid. Where is the road that was taken?

It's a County Road in Jackson County, close to the TN border. Jackson county has a lot of steep roads with tight hairpins. The road surfaces tend to be a little rough but that's not an issue if you are on a dual sport or adventure bike.

I know that many of you have also been members of the Bamarides forum. You probably noticed that the forum has been down for about a week. After unsuccessfully trying to fix whatever the problem was, they decided to just start over from scratch and then try to bring the old data back later. Everyone needs to register again but no video to watch this time: http://bamarides.com/ride/index.php

If you weren't a member, this forum has been a good place to meet other riders in Alabama.

Been in North Alabama since the mid 80's. Worked at the power plant at Browns Ferry for 26 years, now I'm retired & working part time at the Huntsville Cycle Gear just to keep my wife from having to murder me.

I live in Florence, Alabama and ride a black 650 v-strom.
My most recent adventure rides have been compromised of my wife and i dissecting small portions of the western Tennessee section of the TAT. My next planned ride will be the section between Elkton and Minor Hill, Tennessee, probably within the next week.
Kl aviator, I read some of your ride reports and look forward to joining up with you sometime.

Jeep 8, I know we have crossed paths before a few times on this forum. I'm sure we'll be able to cross paths in real life some time as well.
